Today we have created an environment that fosters learned helplessness. You've learned not to hand your child a knife, so don't hand your child a fully unlocked uncontrolled cellphone. You gonna blame the knife manufacturer if you hand a knife to your kid and they cut themselves? That'd be silly. /3

Whether that's cooking ware, sharp objects, etc, it doesn't matter. Parents were expected to keep their children safe. Technology today has this in mind, by implementing parental controls into software. Parents should be expected to learn to use them, to keep their kids safe. /2

Just a little rant: Parental controls have been a thing since we've been in the fucking wilderness. Back when we went into the bronze and iron ages, we learned not to hand little children knives. We've learned not to hand little children various dangerous implements, because they hurt themselves. /1

I'm finding it increasingly more and more difficult to relate to people who lack trauma in their past. There's a mental framework that feels like its missing in these types of people.

Oh if someone says "Empathy is a sin" and means it, that's an instant dismissal from my circle, they aren't welcome back.

Bruh it's such a LOUD tell when someone says "Empathy is a myth, you can't feel someone else's emotions or pain."

It's like someone telling me that "fight or flight", "laughter", or "shared joy" is a myth. I can feel it, I hope you can learn to feel it too.

As someone who is both a Resonite team member and has played SL since 2006, exploring the grid is 100% my most missed thing. We do have something planned down the line though, the Domain system. Think of individual "grids" set up but worlds can be anywhere in the domain instead of a grid layout.

You can't win an argument against a person who would scratch the surface of a topic only to present you the dirt under their nails.

I'm so tired of hearing "Everyone hates me because of my different opinion." when that "opinion" is straight up intolerance of a minority. If you can't tolerate a minority, then why should the majority tolerate you? Voting to remove someone's rights is political violence and destroys the republic!

I've talked about addiction here before, but one I've recently discovered was my Youtube addiction. It became my default state, any idle moment would be filled by scrolling youtube or watching videos. I've replaced my lost time with other endeavors, such as reforesting the Viridian Islands!

After seeing the clothing you've made, I'm certain you could make a successful business out of your talents!

Life only just begins at 30, everything else was just the tutorial level.

As a followup to my previous post, try Friday US evenings, there's a big party hosted weekly by Fur Earthers called the FE campfire Fridays. Lots of dancing, good music, and kind folks!

There're people who overzealously shill for any interest, but it's not something we promote in our culture. Look for the social groups and gatherings with chill folks there interested in conversation and new friends. Be warned though some are still very excited about the performance boost lol

Hey thanks for the hope, and this is 100% the goal. We can be a bit slow on tackling multiple big issues at once since we have a smaller dev team than most other platforms, but we do get to them eventually. Since we tackled low fps for most users, we'll be looking at other usability issues soon.

In the latest @resonite.com update, I've made it so when you lag, now you don't!

The renderer can decouple from the main engine and smooth out any hitches and lag spikes and make them less jarring/disruptive - extra useful in VR and when watching videos!

Oh yeah, I've been there myself. I think that would annoy anyone. For what its worth, we (Resonite) don't encourage people to do that. I've actively discouraged it publicly a few times. It just sucks.

Sounds like people have learned not to talk about Resonite around you, but that doesn't make it irrelevant. Besides, there's thousands of players entering social VR for the first time and logging off a social VR platform for the last time, those are largely the audience we're targeting.
