One of the hardest things to come to terms with is the fact that how I was treated *because* of my mental illnesses did just as much damage to me as my actual mental illnesses did. I am spending so much time unlearning internalized ableism so that I can actually heal and move forward.

Hello, my name is Cassandra, and I ate almost an entire watermelon all by myself yesterday. In my defense, society's collapsing, and it *is* summertime.

I just opened this app.

Originally, this post said "Today was bad. Nature helped."

And hearing the news today *was* bad. I cried. I raged.

But you know what else happened? I laughed til I cried on the way to the grocery store. I went for a walk and watched the sunset.

There is still beauty. I'm going to fight for it.

This aspect of it has been so terrifying to me. Two politicians were assassinated a little over two weeks ago and it isn't even on the radar for a majority of the country anymore, because it just keeps coming. The overwhelm of bad things happening is absolutely suffocating.

Dying, becoming unhoused, or being imprisoned are the options a lot of people are going to be faced with. I get accused of being hyperbolic when I say it, but it's the absolute truth.

There are only three political positions in America today

1) I like the fascism

2) I'll acquiesce to the fascism (reasons for this one vary: cowardice, access, denial, misguidedly thinking that acquiescence is savvy, etc)

3) I oppose the fascism

I grew up in rural Kentucky. 3 hospitals near my hometown are at high risk for shutdown. If they go, the closest hospital would be nearly an hour away. People are going to die because of this, and huge swaths of them are still cheering it on. I will never, EVER understand them. Or forgive them.

I've spent the past 5 months genuinely and sincerely trying to engage with people who support the current administration on a nearly daily basis.

It's bad. It's really, really, really bad.

I keep telling people that I don't throw around the whole "they're in a cult" thing lightly. They're not going to magically wake up one morning and undo decades of brainwashing - they're going to cling tighter, and fight harder, and continue to deny reality. I see numerous examples of it daily.
