We just launched a 16TB archive of every dataset that has been available on data.gov since November. This will be updated day by day as new datasets appear. It can be freely copied, and we're sharing the code behind it to help others make their own archives of data they depend on.
This is one of the many dangers of Elon Musk and his cronies’ belief that they are big-brained geniuses. They are so confident in their belief that they are special, very smart big boys that they take zero precautions.
The most brilliant devs I know still make mistakes. Even if this kid was the most talented programmer in the universe (he’s not), it still takes time to develop knowledge of a system.
Most new hires spend months getting up to speed on a system, their first code pushes are limited to README updates and small bug fixes. And this is for companies whose user base and scale of money at risk is a fraction of the US Treasury.
This is so bad and so dangerous. It makes complete sense that the existing team is being held hostage to do code reviews because the alternative is letting a bull run through a china shop.
