DC has a once-in-a-generation chance to fix its housing crisis through the 2050 Comp Plan rewrite. OP's current proposal squanders it. I built a tool so you can see exactly where they're falling short: dc2050.org 1/4
^not an opinion on said constitutional right, just contrasting it in this context
Courts have said we have a constitutional right to own firearms yet it feels someone who commits manslaughter or reckless discharge with a gun is more likely to lose their access to guns than someone who kills a family of four with a car losing their drivers license - a privilege. Make it make sense
I didn’t coin this, but I think about it all the time: murder is completely legal in the US as long as the weapon is a car
Turf replacement at Malcolm X Park is WAY overdue. But closing the entire lawn without community engagement has rubbed a lot of folks the wrong way.
I'm working closely with local NPS leadership to find an alternative plan that preserves some access to DC's vital town square.

If we’re already a subscriber and don’t mind paying full price for the training where do we sign up?
It might be less annoying if they just didn’t mention utilities at all but here we are
*talk about
This should be repeated over and over and over. You can’t take about your campaign being about affordability, including for utility bills, when you spent 8 years doing no oversight.
I hope they can put out something new. DC is a leader in bus priority which is such a huge transit equity issue and I hope in his campaign and if he becomes mayor he can see that.
…when as I’m sure you know, 70-80% of bus riders are non-white and a majority are poor. It also explicitly mentions that parking for church goers should take precedence over all else. I hope you understand why I would be concerned.
I appreciate that perspective and respect why you are choosing to support. I find it difficult re: buses because my concern is not coming from my experience with him as a Councilmember but from his questionnaire which among other things links bus lanes to displacement…
I think that is fair re: bikes, but his position on buses and by extension bus riders is pretty similar as played out in his questionnaire answers.

After months and months of solicitations and extensions, @ddotdc.bsky.social has cancelled the solicitation for a new bus shelter agreement. I am very confused as the Director testified last week that this was moving forward. The expansion of shelters that bus riders needed are long overdue.
Have you tried Cosmograph? Free project meant to visualize some of this kind of stuff. Disclaimer: I haven’t used it but it’s on my list

So worth it if you can. Changes the experience of getting around
I hate that I know that this bit may have started with this barber in New Jersey doing the same thing and spread. Hilarious that it hit the DMV

Every city that I know of that’s established an in-house team to deliver ‘missing middle’ small-capital projects has had huge success.
I’m really sorry! You have done really amazing work at the post
DDOT this morning announced 2 public meetings—one online, one in-person at Shaw Library—for the 11th St NW bike lane project later this month.
If you saw that, hopefully you also saw this afternoon's correction: the online meeting is TUESDAY, Feb 17.
In-person remains Wednesday, 2/18. Both at 6pm.
Saw that provision - to be clear I’m talking about more generally where proactive disclosure is far and few between. I don’t know the last time any substantive FOIA reform was considered but if the Council is looking for recommendations, I know there are plenty of things to borrow from other states
One might wonder if the Council could finally undertake reform of DC FOIA law to require proactive public disclosure 🤷♂️
And they reduced the height from earlier proposals IIRC. It should be 10 stories!
The same law means the Sanitation department has to do SEQRA (and CEQR) environmental assessment for every neighborhood where they want to put trash into containers which dramatically slows down rollout. An environmental assessment of the impact of putting trash in trash cans 🤷♂️
To put a slightly finer point to it: LLMs industrialized nonconsensual nudes. @santi4dc.bsky.social and I found in May that AI nudifiers make as much as $36 million/year.
As with many other online harms, what X has done is shifted the Overton window to make more shitty behavior acceptable.
