Eulogy for Festive Depression
for blue dogs who ain't able or unwilling to be
with others for the holidays - please know that there's kin out there who understand and love you there's always love even if you aren't able to always see it I promise you it's there
I promise
out in the
belly of
winter flame
meltdown
at all the
memories
looking out
the muggy
December window
hope and
dream on a
budget boiled
down to
Nothing
as you loop
and loop
Mobius replays
behind your eyes
all the good
times all the
old songs all
the voices you'll
never hear again
outside
of your dreams -
till the new
wave of tears
moves you
into the
next breath
touch of
joys a memory
so distant a
historical marker
is long overdue -
easy is the
sobbing the gray
hard liquor cigarettes
going down to your heart
tough tough tough
to get up on through
the poisoned fun house
every day brings
out your door
but you breathe
you remind
yourself there's
so many like
you that are
just as lonesome but
too terrified to admit
address the
pain - you get
up you walk you
remind yourself
that the holiday
decor and smiles
ain't there to
be mocking some
bitter joke
you get up you
walk on mystery of
all the days have laid
out ahead horizon
shining with
promise through the
vail of
tears you
breathe again a
little easier shadows
hold like a lover's
embrace as the day
shimmers
blooms waits
for the lovers
like you
happy holidays for those who through reasons of mortality, illness, disability, hate or fear, are unable to be with the loved ones they really want to this time of year. Love you sweet blue dogs dearly. Please take care of yourself. Please.
