A small, shiny octopus sculpture made from polymer clay and carefully painted to depict the species Larger Pacific Striped Octopus. The octopus is sitting on top of a shell and holding a small Swarovski crystal. The shell rests on a few beachy rocks. Photographed on a solid black background.

godot 4.6 may get native support for gltf gpu instancing
this will allow instantly importing tens of thousands of meshes into godot multimeshes via binary format
What if I make lightmap texel scale of an object inversely dependent on its size with a customizable curve? 🤔
Then lightmaps will just work for big background mountains without the need for manual labelling for importer
seems like godot will need something like this to allow custom AO, GI or SSR, or even film grain that works with TAA/FSR

A robin made a nest in one of my plant pots right outside my studio. The baby birds are hatching today.
The demo for Life Below is out on Steam Next Fest now!
It's an underwater city builder, but instead of buildings you build Corals! So it's a coral reef builder!

A digital painting of a huge giant made of moss. She looks like an elderly woman with a walking stick, but is purely green, and has a cloak that looks like patches of different moss species. She walks through a lush forest full of rainbow birds, in front of a blue sky with white clouds.

I'm finally done with the piece I've done for @abigbat.bsky.social's illustration mentorship! I've loved every second of it and feel so much better about my art and process now 🐟

I've posted my full interview with Thief's artist and cutscene director @dthron.bsky.social on substack. I referenced this interview a lot in my deep dive on Thief's aesthetics and once again, I'd like to thank Daniel for taking the time to answer my questions.

A digital portrait of Corythoraptor: a feathered dinosaur with a parrot-like beak and large boney crest atop its head. Its feathers are shades of browns and white, with some brighter pink and purple coloured skin around the bright yellow eyes.

I posted a WIP of this ludicrous animal a couple of days ago. I’m calling it finished for now. #SciArt

Diagram of game architecture layers. Visual Layer — Scripted game engine components. A Unity MonoBehavior attached to a game object, a Godot Node script class, etc. GameLogic Layer — the meat and potatoes of your game, itself broken into two "sublayers": Visual Game Logic Layer — state machines, behavior trees, or other stateful mechanisms that drive a single game engine component's state. Pure Game Logic Layer — repository classes that perform game logic that's not specific to any single visual component. Data Layer — Various client classes for "lower level" interactions, such as networking and persistent storage.
we always talk about separating game logic from visualization. here's how i like to think of the different architecture layers in a game #gamedev #Indiedev #godot
