A key mission of @kff.org public opinion work is to amplify the voices of the people directly impacted by healthy policy debates. Today we release a great example of this- a survey of ACA Marketplace Enrollees

I used to work in polling in the UK and think the British Polling Council is a great model - but I do think it would be difficult (but not impossible!) to replicate in the U.S.

New KFF-ESPN poll of 1988 NFL players - As a football fan, it was such a privilege to work on this project. It really deepened my appreciation for the players and the toll it takes on them to play a game they love and entertain us fans. on.kff.org/3V2Q1Md

Sorry for your loss Emily - that is a beautiful birdie!
With the growing uncertainty of how political decisions will impact federal survey data in the next few years, this non-governmental polling work may be more important than ever. (7/7)
Organizations such as The Pew Research Center, Gallup, NORC, PRRI and others are also producing high-quality polling that helps fill data gaps in federal surveys. These surveys require a significant commitment of resources and it is important these organizations continue to invest in polling. (6/7)
The KFF/LA Times Survey of Immigrants found that half of likely undocumented immigrants say they are uninsured – a measure previously unavailable from federal health data sources. (5/7) www.kff.org/racial-equit...
The KFF/LA Times Survey of Immigrants is another example of KFF’s polling filling in a gap from federal health data. This was the largest nationally representative survey focused on immigrants to date. (4/7)
KFF’s surveys tracked vaccine uptake among key demographic groups (including party ID) and distinguished uptake of initial vaccine doses from boosters, providing an important comparison to CDC estimates that had problems linking booster doses to initial doses. www.kff.org/coronavirus-... (3/7)
The abrupt removal of federal datasets and increased uncertainty about what data will be collected and reported in the future highlights the role that non-government polling can play in complementing federal survey data.
A good recent example of this is KFF’s COVID-19 Vaccine Monitor surveys.(2/7)
A few thoughts on the need for high quality non-governmental survey data:
The last few weeks saw vital public data from the Census and other government surveys being taken offline. These surveys like the ACS, CPS, NHIS, and BRFSS are incredibly valuable for researchers and policymakers. (1/7)
#Medicaid covers 1 in 3 people with disabilities. The majority do not receive SSI so come on to the program through other pathways including the ACA expansion. www.kff.org/medicaid/iss...
A January @kff.org poll found most parents reject the false claim that MMR vaccines cause autism, including Democrats and Republicans. But among those who believe it, 37% of parents who believe this say they have delayed or skipped some vaccines vs. 8% of don't www.kff.org/health-infor...
@KFF polling shows that across political parties people have favorable views of Medicaid, almost half say the federal government does not spend enough on the program and more than 7 in 10 are worried that enrollees will not get the same level of benefits in the future. www.kff.org/health-costs...
