All modes of active transportation seem to be coming out from where they've been hiding all winter. Like a bear after hibernation, Guelph is getting active!

The Wyndham Street downtown reconstruction is officially kicking off today! It’s going to be a bit of a maze down here, but it’s so exciting to think about the finished product. The design looks amazing, modern streetscapes, better bike lanes, and a refreshed St. George’s Square.

Looking forward to tonight's @activeguelph.bsky.social annual meeting and talk by Ken Eden. It might not look like it in Guelph today but the biking season is laying in wait for the chance to pounce.

Funding moves Guelph closer to closing gap in the G2G Rail Trail Currently, the only way for trail users to continue their journeys between Guelph and Marden is to travel on the narrow shoulder of Silvercreek Parkway North

Good news for Guelph to Goderich (G2G) Rail Trail users! Funding has been secured to help fill the 2.7 km trail gap from Woodlawn Road to Silvercreek Parkway North which the City of Guelph hopes to finish by next year. #BikeSky #ONpoli CC @activeguelph.bsky.social www.guelphtoday.com/local-news/f...

Spring has sprung and with the warmer weather comes melting snow and spring rain. That means flooding can impact trails, bike routes, and pedestrian pathways: especially near the Speed River and Guelph Lake.

Policy tells us what exists.
Storytelling lets us imagine what could.

When we can’t picture a future, we default to survival mode with short-term decisions, false trade-offs, “good enough for now,” "save a few dollars where we can." Cities do this too.

Cycling advocates warn there will be more angry drivers this winter After council voted to leave out snow removal for on-street bike lanes from the 2026 budget

New @taypace.bsky.social article outlining the many concerns around council’s decision to not plow bike lanes this winter, with some insightful feedback from @activeguelph.bsky.social & @bicyclemayorguelph.bsky.social. This is a mistake and a liability. #Guelph #cycling @thebikinglawyer.bsky.social

Virtually all lanes are lines on the roads 💅

Still no answer on keeping bus stops and parking accessible if we're not maintaining bike lanes where they intersect.

Welp, get ready for cyclists to take the full lane this winter. An awful decision which impacts the accessibility and transportation needs for people who rely on bike lanes to get where they need to go. @bicyclemayorguelph.bsky.social @activeguelph.bsky.social @thebikinglawyer.bsky.social #guelph

Today I voted NO to Bill 60 — a terrible piece of legislation that continues this government’s attack on tenants in the middle of a housing affordability crisis.

Though we never want it to happen; knowing what to do after a crash can make all the difference. Our friends at @thebikinglawyer.bsky.social  has many resources such as their Crash Guide which offers step-by-step advice on what to do if you're involved in a cycling crash.

Did you know that even if an incident doesn’t require calling 9-1-1, you can still report it?

If a reckless driver puts you at risk, you witness a crash or dangerous behavior, or experience harassment while biking or walking, call the Guelph non-emergency line at 519-824-1212.

🔍 Why Do Close Calls Matter?

While crashes often get reported (worryingly not all!), close calls are an early warning sign of dangerous road conditions. Tracking them helps identify problem areas before serious collisions happen.

Spot a Hazard? Report It! 🚲🚧

Potholes, debris in bike lanes, faded crosswalks, missing signs, broken beg buttons—small hazards can lead to big problems!
