it’s so cool how most LA politicians wake up in the morning and are like “how can I make it harder to build housing today”
Our only hope to make LA a well-run, pro-housing city is electing Nithya Raman as mayor

with the water issues IT’S THE FARMER’S FAULT BLAME THE FUCKING FARMERS is like Newtonian physics: it won’t get every single particular right, but for practical purposes it’s all the information you need most of the time

Such an important day in history. Drop some acid if you can, but if not, celebrate with a bike ride!
Beautiful city, good choice
Good point. So easy to forget but I've only actually been using them for work in the last few months
Yeah I do think this is definitely a part of it. Those companies are building some of the most exciting technologies ever, yet are so bad at selling the public on the benefits.
Strangely, I've noticed the same thing with housing developers.
Impossible
But seriously, I just can't understand what it's like to be someone who hates one of the most exciting things ever. It's a pathology I can't possibly relate to.
Blocked lol. Here's the post for anyone curious:
This is absolutely correct: YIMBYism is true progressiveness, and our chief enemy is the old, landed, conservative, gentry class.
But that's why it's so stressful when we get opposition from the left! They speak in lefty language but produce conservative outcomes!
Ugh, and here's one from the mayor of Seattle. Worse, she's a progressive, seen here working to slow progress.
I don't know how, but we need to find a way to stop data center NIMBYism, and fast. Especially amongst us progressives.

This is so bleak, I can't believe such a bill made it to her desk. After seeing how much NIMBYs took from us by blocking housing, I would never be able to forgive them if they take the promise of AI from us too.
How does he determine what years are each respective one's "Start of Program"? Or do you know which year it is for each?
Well shit maybe what we urbanists need is another global war
Actually I'm seeing the same with everyone else so it must be because of the attack.
No they're definitely not. Either yours are or DMs are still impacted by the DOS attack on Bluesky today
Please do!!
Regular reminder that farmers (and particularly meat farmers) are the biggest welfare queens in America- even more than car drivers!!
The price of beef is massively subsidized, not least by the fact that the cost to graze cattle on public land has not changed since the 1960s.
$1.35 per cow-calf pair per month - 30 to 50 times less than market value.
If you really want to stop corporate welfare, beef prices are gonna go up.
All right y'all: On Tuesday, I am talking with Tom Steyer, who is rather suddenly & unexpectedly the frontrunner in the California governor race. I want to get his thoughts on climate & clean energy policy, in CA & nationally.
Got questions?
Damn, I've never had that happen to me. I need to get on your level.
They sometimes have priority, they sometimes have preemption, they sometimes have neither.
But we're running a campaign to implement preemption everywhere! DM me your email if you want to join!
There needs to be a ballot initiative requiring Metro to eliminate street running except in Santa Monica and Long Beach within 8 years
🔋Grid-scale batteries are replacing gas plants in CA’s evening energy peak!
On 3/29, CAISO batteries delivered 12.3 GW (43% of demand) during peak hours, sustaining over 20% of the grid for hours during the evening ramp
CA’s battery capacity has surged from 1.3 GW in 2020 to ~17 GW todsy
Happy tax day! Shout out to taxes, the cornerstone of a functional and equitable society, and in particular the often-maligned but extremely important property and gas taxes.
Congratulations!!
California's downtowns face office vacancy rates of 30%+.
Ab 2074 would accelerate downtown recovery by streamlining approvals for high-rise housing near transit hubs and creating a $500M low-interest loan fund to help close the financing gap.

Ah, perhaps they've learned from our mistakes!
No not at all! I haven't actually read their bill, was just a shitpost skeet
It's a Los Angeles housing joke (about Measure ULA)
