I like to assess high-concept action flicks by placing them in one of two categories: TRASH or GARBAGE. Trash is silly, earnest, fun, and if we're lucky, emotionally manipulative (in a good way). Garbage is self-serious, emotionless, and by-the-numbers. This looks like 'trash,' and I can't wait.
