In both Sydney and London olympic tickets holders got FREE public transport to and from venues.
The #FIFAWorldCup in the United States of Greed and Corruption they're charging ticket holders $150—an 11-fold increase on the usual $12.90 (£9.50) for a return fare.

True true. I don't think the ECB has gotten the summer schedule right for about 10 or so years, but it's also bigger picture than the schedule.
Fan interest, revenues, competitiveness of teams, the white ball vs red ball balance, Championship as preparation for test cricket etc.
Meanwhile, Nothants don't even get an average League 2 football match attendance (5,458 per game) for their entire season.
As much as I hate to admit it, I increasingly think belligerent adherence to the need for 18 First Class counties playing over 15 games a season cannot last anymore.
Well. Slightly sobering stuff as reported in @thegrumbler.bsky.social's latest County Cricket Newsletter... Surrey, Middlesex & despite their small ground (+lack of a Hundred franchise) Somerset; all doing gangbusters by county cricket crowd standards...
Disgusting profiteering.
#FIFA keep claiming football is "the people's game".
Throw a little American stardust over it and suddenly it becomes a corporate money hoover.
Yes, I only use it for accessing Freeview - mostly ABC tbf.
However, as an Australian living abroad, accessing home free view channels via IPTV which is just about the only way you can keep in touch with your home content, is a vital connection for millions all over the world.
So personally I think the whole thing needs major reform with more leniency.
I reluctantly agree with the case of subscription TV channels where the channel has paid for exclusive rights to a particular competition.
Although I mostly disagree this has been beneficial for sports - the free coverage of the 2005 Ashes did more for cricket than 30 years of sky has ever done.
A second reboot, and Pele's old New York Cosmos is alive again!

🚨season eye-opener.
What an extraordinary collection, and bravo Mike Gatting stepping forward to talk about it in an age when ordinary failures somehow become character mockeries.
Gatts was just one of the early victims of one of the greatest cricket magicians of all times.

The Tassie Devils open their copybook with a big home win vs Coburg. This feels like the start of big things!

FFS. I thought the BBL was safe from the dirty maws of private equity and Indian enfranchisement.
Oh good, the next stage of the IPL global takeover will be controlling Australia as well as England.

No comment needed.
Nope sorry, certainly don't care what broadcasters want, and personally, an ODI world cup is worth ten T20 slapgiggle tin cups.
Especially in games where there is 1-2 points in it with minutes left like last night.
I recall it well - I was a barman in a swanky bar in Sydney at the time, and it was filled with England fans who couldn't get a ticket to the final. So... Yeah. I do recall that.
But I also remember watching Quins win a close game with a drop goal from open play & just wonder why there aren't more.
A disappointing fizzle to the end of what looked like a promising Shield season - especially after also losing the ODC. Still, fair play five teams could have made the final, and the croweaters could go back to back if they can beat the Vics in their own backyard.

Well. I. Never.
That was a hell of a Six Nations game #FravEng #EngvFra - I do enjoy union, but an as Aussie who also loves Aussie Rules & enjoys League, in a close game maybe start looking for field goals?
Could have mixed that up a bit. You do still call it "football", right?
This reminds of the time I'd had a few beers and thought Bob Hawke Cricket would be a great videogame.
At the end of each over you neck another schooner and the shots become looser and looser as you go along.
You've pissed off all your former friends by treating them badly.
No, because the Hundred was always pants which created more division in the game than new fans and the "new car" smell has well and truly worn off. I suspect the clear anti-Pakistan stance of our new Indian bosses is probably not universally popular in the UK.

Well congrats to NSW on a deserved win. Pretty disappointing not to bring the Deano Trophy to Tassie, but just didn't do the job on the day...

No one will be doing USA any favours anytime soon.
so, just to confirm, Italy and Mexico now play a WBC game where depending on the result either could be eliminated or both could be through, and everyone involved knows what score they need to both get through
