Keep drafting and tossing a skeet that basically communicates: colleagues who arenāt beholden to one of the governments belligerent of this conflict, please give a little grace. No normal person from anywhere wants this.
You have more in common with the people of Iran than you do with anyone in this administration, any member of the technocracy, anyone who is profiting from this war, or any billionaire. When you see Iranians forming human chains outside key infrastructure sites, you should feel a sense of kinship.
Both of its time AND ahead of its time. Which I find inspiring artistically and deeply depressing practically.
As I said
Iām just gonna mention, perhaps by coincidence, one of the people Iāve spent the most time talking IRL about what weāre gonna do after the fall just showed up at my door.
I have one more unclaimed bed fyi.
Itās unjust that it will Happen before the regime is held to account for their actions.
One of the best parts of my work in EU policy is all the endorsement of digital sovereignty and alternative platforms being utilized.
One of the most frustrating parts is how much Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint are still somehow involved *constantly*.
Worst skeet
I donāt fault anyone for disabling quotes. But a quote post is the best opportunity I have to be incredibly explicit about my endorsement of that post I just reskeeted. UBI now. Welfare for anyone who needs it. 100% tax over $10M.
Stop dating we canāt support our people because we canāt afford it.
Reparations now.
UBI. No means testing. Just checks.
Emergency welfare available to all on request as cash payments & OPTIONAL counselling.
Nationalize the internet. Categorize internet access as a basic utility, like water.
Free college. Forgive all student debt.
100% tax rate above $10 mil.
Omg I have a client that has tried so hard to make Teams happen but their entire team are not just contractors but independent freelancers and none of the 17-ish of us are having it.
Yeah itās been years since it was my problem at this point. And like, I do have Slack access for multiple clients. But I have no obligations so I just donāt run the Slack client because why would I work for free.
I think maybe the best part about freelancing is not having Slack? The guy next to me at the airport keeps getting Slack notifications and every time I hear the sound my body tenses up.
I have two core i7 ca 2014 macs about to recycled unless any of you US-based weirdos want the hardware for some bizarre reason. A MacBook Pro 15" that doesn't boot and a MacBook Air 13".
I subsisted almost entirely on mini croissants while I was in Barcelona. Oh also paneer-based dishes at Out of India outofindia.es
The English men behind me on my flight to London sure are marveling at the association between ātyrantā and ākingā as though they have never cracked a history book or reckoned with their countryās colonial past.
But at the very least, learning how to _read_ cursive sets them up to learn how to research primary sources which will be so fucking important in the artificial future.
Iām with you, currently feels like my most unpopular opinion. Research shows that we learn differently (usually better) from the tactile experience of writing. The longer kids spend learning to write (say, dānealan one year, cursive the next, shorthand the next) the more likely they are to write.
Aki wearing a blazer, a white button-up, black jean shorts, and zebra tights with a microphone in hand. Iām leaning back against a lecturn in totes profesh fashion.
Today in Aki flips bits: somehow managed to knock out both projectors mid-talk and had to give the second half without slides.
Iām finding the phrase āwe have guardrails in placeā to be less and less convincing, coming from all organizations and levels, not just the OpenAIs and Anthropics of the world.
ā Q more.
Omg there was a place in the TL (iirc) when I first started working in SF that made the most amazing paneer pakora Iāve ever had. Iām still chasing that fried cheese high.
Star India maybe it was called? (Not the same as the current Star India in SF)
Iām feeling kind of fixated on this take. Youāre right, _and also_ idk if this flavor of earnestness can be pulled off by someone who isnāt, well, earnest. Like, he may or may not want more power, most politicians do. But he might actually want it so that he can do more good, which āš» whoa āš»
Itās been a full day and I cannot stop fucking thinking about this post.
Tfw your watch tells you itās time to stand up and you havenāt even pushed back from the gate yet
As penance for this snarky wine post, Iām going to seek out some white zin soon and taste it for the first time since before I could legally drink so I can form my own opinion instead of relying on its bad reputation.
To whom it may concern: white Zinfandel is not the same thing as rosƩ. Even if you have two different brands.
If Metaās platforms are harmful to childrenās health theyāre also harmful to adults.
The solution to protect children is not to amplify their ability to harm adults by tracking all of us, itās to force them to not make harmful platforms.
