They think that there are so many left-leaning people in America because of Marxist professors and the like indoctrinating us. They seem to have forgotten that they have crashed the economy now four times in just my lifetime with their greed and avarice. That’s enough to be anti-capitalist.

I read the first chapter of THREE TWINS Monday just before bed because it was too late for Seanan’s novella. It made me want to binge the first three books but I think I’ll ration them because they promise to be a really enjoyable series. Our children are triplets too (our version of three twins). 😊
Triplets! That's magnificent, and also iconic. (The as-it-were First Family of the Chalet School starts with triplets [and goes on to have eleven children altogether].)
I’m lucky, my preorder arrived at my local bookshop last week, and I finished the bonus novella this morning. Compelling reading as usual.
Going back to the also riveting NeoG series, by @kbwagers.com for books 3 and 4.
After that, the Crater School series (trilogy?), by @chazbrenchley.bsky.social.
Huzzah! (Not a trilogy, though; there just happen to be three books out at the moment. The fourth is coming soonest, and more are on their way. I'm having far too much fun to, y'know, stop.)

THIS!!!!
Can confirm. At least two leagues here in Silicon Valley, almost entirely peopled with South Asians, who love their cricket sadly more than we do these days.
Am happy to don pads to hold up my end and bowl a few overs of spin at the other, but, I was, y'know, never very good...

Goodness. That's a but of a thing to wake up to. Um, thank you?
I frame much of my discussion through analysis of works by @lauriejmarks.bsky.social & @chazbrenchley.bsky.social - 2 authors of queer fantasy whose work has recently been vital to how I've been thinking about the genre & what it's able to say about queerness and/or religion.

Getting a lot of "I tried that, but Game of Thrones, Wheel of Time and Kingkiller ruined me!" replies.
Pull up a chair and I'll explain how publishing works.
All I want is to retire to a charming seaside town, live with my cat, run a quirky bookstore that doubles as a potion shop, occasionally transform fools into frogs, and maybe crack a local murder mystery or two. Simple dreams, really.
"Put on your best sparkly rainbow feather boa, read the stories, and cry into your porn star martini... PREACHING TO THE PERVERTED is a brilliant collection that deserves its place in the canon of literary horror."
Fabulous reader review today!

It's publication day! (This is book four of six, and yes, you do absolutely have to read them in order, so if you haven't yet, picking up number one (The Devil in the Dust) would be a fine way to celebrate my forthcoming birthday, just sayin'...)
The cover of navigational entanglements by aliette de bodard, showing surreal imagery and collage of a person floating in space and a chicken and bug-like thing and tentacles
Underneath the Oversea’s cover by Marc Laidlaw, showing surreal imagery of water and tentacles spiraling around a hole

people tell you the best thing about having written a book is getting to call yourself a published author or sharing your vision with the world but really the best thing about having written a book is that you don't have to write it anymore

It’s not the start of an oligarchy. We’re in the thick of it.
Just saw a picture from a few years ago of me hanging out with someone who did a full heel-turn into TERFdom after our meetup, and it made me sad that they did that, so to cheer myself up I just made a donation to the Transgender Law Center.

Coffee. Lots and lots of strong black coffee, darkest roast I can find. I'm a simple soul.
In 1659, the the Puritans in Massachusetts enacted a law that declared that Christmas was sacrilege and exchanging of gifts, greetings, and wearing fine clothing on that day was Satanic. Anyone caught celebrating was fined 5 shillings. (About 5 days wages.)
The "War on Christmas" was an inside job.
Guru Nanak Kitchen in Edinburgh was handing out free meals and I asked if it was OK to take one even though I could afford to buy something. They told me firmly that it was important that people who didn't NEED free food took it, so that those who did NEED it could take without feeling exposed.
It's a wonderful book. We adore Aliette's writing hereabouts.
Dude, don't shout at me, I bought it already.
Highly recommend!
