Is one of John Farnham’s most popular songs about to be banned in Australia? - ABC Religion & Ethics How did Australia’s perennial pop sweetheart find his 1988 chart-topping song “Two Strong Hearts” unexpectedly implicated in current debates over hate speech laws? Does this suggest the states’ approach to legislation has gone too far?

Having resubmitted a linkage for LP26 that is also in LP25, I’ve just realised that the entire rejoinder process for LP26 could happen before outcomes for 25 are known. Would love to see a $$ figure for wasted time between applicants, reviewers and admin staff at the end of all this

Wait, do you mean the caps that effectively give power to the 2 major parties from here on in by locking everyone else out? That’s not a master stroke, that’s just the two parties working for their own interests

Occasional reminder that there’s no, “it’s too late, its over” for anthropogenic climate change. Every molecule of CO2 that doesn’t go into the atmosphere makes a difference. Preventing 0.1 degree of warming makes a difference. Every bit of climate resilience we build together makes a difference.

Keith Wasserman: Does anyone have access to private firefighters to protect our home in Pacific Palisades? Need to act fast here. All neighbors houses burning. Will pay any amount. Thank you.

“Will pay any amount.”

Feels like one of those futile pleas we’re going to hear from wealthy people more and more in the era of climate change.

Australia leads the world in arresting climate and environment protesters A new study shows more than 20 per cent of climate and environment protests in Australia lead to arrests, more than in the UK, Norway, and the United States.

Labor and Liberal governments have passed 49 anti-protest laws across the country over the last two decades.

It is damning (& history will judge us harshly) but no surprise that 🇦🇺 leads the world on climate protest arrests.
