This is one of my favourite Greek vases, known as ‘the tuna seller’. It paints a delightful scene that resonates through the ages to today - two old boys having a chat while one, the fishmonger, prepares tuna steaks for the other.

A Moche stirrup-spout bottle with the form of a Tyto alba, the western barn owl. Orangish in color, with faded white stripes on the deep feathered tufting around its eyes, the owl looks down and slightly to its right. Incredibly realistic.
The goddess Athena herself would have coveted this stirrup-spout bottle in the shape of an owl. Created thousands of miles across the ocean from Greece, this bottle is typical of the work of Moche ceramicists of Peru’s North Coast. #MetMuseum 🏺 1/

"Television. The strange thing about television is that it - doesn't *tell* you everything. It *shows* you everything about life on Earth, but the true mysteries remain. Perhaps it's in the nature of television. Just waves in space."
The first edition of Fingerbobs was broadcast on this day in 1972. Devised by Joanne and Michael Cole (the creators of Bod) and presented by Rick Jones, the thirteen episodes made were regularly repeated until the mid 1980's.
It definitely does feel very much like a soap at the moment, rather than a ongoing tale of rural folk.
If I win the lottery I wouldn’t tell anyone, but there would be signs

Zircon crystals are nearly indestructible, and are some of the only things to survive the hellish pressure and heat of the Haldean Eon, when the earth was formed. The oldest zircons are found in Jack Hills, Australia, where our specimen was found. It may be small, but it's 4.4 billion years old!

My grown children always tease me that porridge made with water is my favourite food because it's all they saw me eat. I hate porridge. I only ate it because it was 50p for a bag and I didn't want to let them know we were poor as shit. The 'proper food' was for them
