I'm a cynic. Supernatural romance is big. RTD made a series about monsterfucking to act as a gateway drug to the DWU for a demographic with disposable income and a ravenous apetite for back-catalogue content.
As for the gender change -- some fish DO change gender. (Though not that quickly.)

There is precedent for too much time, travel occurring in a short period of time is isolated to a small area, making things harder and harder the more ‘traffic’ there is.
However I agree with you that the scenario you are describing is possible within the rules of the universe.

You should look at the Lance Bruner Robin -- specifically with an eye towards him being the Robin seen in various afterlife cameos (Green Arrow v3 #7, Gotham Knights #34 etc...) which had been assumed to be Jason at the time, but retroactively can't have been Jason.
