I just remembered I gave a talk on this work at the 2025 meeting of the Memory Disorders Research Society, for those interested: vimeo.com/1170041564?s...

That would be FANTASTIC!!!
Oh, I'm hearing the frogs....
New paper in PBR: "Working memory’s pointer system is governed by physical objecthood, not spatiotemporal information"
rdcu.be/fd2tY
Without valid WM pointers, we miss OBVIOUS changes in visible items; the study shows that this "resetting" process is all about objects and not spatiotemporal change!
Many claim memory biases toward percepts reflect corruption in sensory signals. We challenge this view by showing that ppl adapt their integration rationally w/ experience. w/ @timbrady.bsky.social
Humans adaptively integrate memory and perception based on stimulus history | osf.io/preprints/ps...
Thank YOU Nick! I had a BLAST!! I enjoyed every second of it interacting with so many brilliant minds on a beautiful campus!!!Also Columbia MO is a GEM!!!!
New preprint with @SamJung @timbrady.bsky.social and @violastoermer.bsky.social: osf.io/preprints/ps.... Here we uncover what might be driving the “meaningfulness benefit” in visual working memory. Studies show that real objects are remembered better in VWM tasks than abstract stimuli. But why? 1/
This was such a joy!!! In this work, the brilliant @fridaprintzlau.bsky.social demonstrates the core features of VWM representations, namely its dynamicity and flexibility. TLDR: VWM dynamically shifts its representational geometry during maintenance depending on its task demand! What an ART!
🎉 New preprint 🎉 with Olya Bulatova, @drmack.bsky.social & @keisukefukuda.bsky.social! We decode shapes in working memory from EEG and show that representations are task-dependent, flexibly integrating information about category and task during the memory delay
New pre-print w/ @keisukefukuda.bsky.social ! In this study, we show that memory biases selectively persist across time following perceptual comparisons, but not passive interference, even when observers abstain from making explicit memory reports.

New paper day! Whereas earlier studies have shown that human eye movement patterns are influenced by the physical properties of remembered stimuli, we show that they are also influenced by stimulus meaning. h/t to Ali Pexsa (not on bluesky) who led this work.

Now out in JEP:G! We (@fridaprintzlau.bsky.social & @keisukefukuda.bsky.social ) resolve inconsistent attentional protection in WM by addressing discrepancies in cueing. Upshot: Attention changes how perception biases memory, but *not* how memory biases perception!

🚨NEW paper alert at JEP:G: when we're making recognition memory decisions, are we aware of our recognition errors? The answer is YES (with two error detection systems for different purposes): (w/ Geoff Woodman & @keisukefukuda.bsky.social ) psycnet.apa.org/record/2026-... 1/3

New paper with LaurenWilliams, @timbrady.bsky.social, and @violastoermer.bsky.social now out in JEP: General! "Limits of verbal labels in cognition: Category labels do not improve visual working memory performance for obfuscated objects" psycnet.apa.org/record/2026-...
Finally #WMS2025 starts Today 🤩🥳 #workingmemory
WM researchers of all ages across the globe, see you tomorrow at 9am CDT (2pm GMT)!

Who doesn't like a good model of the brain? Yet, from simple regression to neural nets, some limitations keep popping up (e.g., overfitting) @mjwolff.bsky.social & I saw some cool but puzzling data, ran a quick analysis & found one such limitation: model mimicry.
