Wakefield accepted 400,000 pounds from a group of attorneys to generate data supporting a link between vaccines and autism. He is responsible for countless deaths.

Two weeks ago I gave a talk on writing to some visiting Latin American students and postdocs, and a couple of young women asked if I could talk about fraudulent practices, particularly image manipulation. I asked, "Do you know about Elisabeth Bik?" and they exclaimed, "She's our hero!!"

Did you create the principles of tidy data or were they exported from elsewhere? I teach introductory R in Spanish to students primarily using Excel or other tools, and although "tidy" doesn't easily translate, they get a look when the penny (peso) drops.

I saw the original run of "Yankee Douche" in New York. This new cast has energy but lacks wit.

I have chosen not to endorse either the New York Times or Washington Post.

Learning this is like finding out that the guy I see at the car wash every Saturday was an extra in The Big Lebowski.

When trying to explain vaccines to skeptics I rely on military metaphors. They are war games--essential to preparing for the real enemy, but the faithful reproduction of skirmishes means someone might still get hurt.

Oh for the days when that was not a controversial opinion.

Like High Noon with a 17-year-old girl. "We can't help you past this point; you're on your own."

She was not of legal age to vote to protect her own body and health. The doctor recognized that adults must defend the rights of minors in peril. So should we all.

As someone who regularly communicates in Spanish as well as English, I am constantly amazed at how languages cause social anxiety in addressing the second person. In English, why did you call me out specifically? In Spanish and French, how dare you use the familiar form?

I was not a fan back then, but with age and life experience he has matured a great deal.

NYT this morning: "A Storm, a Strike, and War Abroad Pose Challenges for Harris". Guess they'll have to find another challenge for her.

She is like Paul Thomas Anderson. She makes one great movie after another, and then you hear her interviewed and just want to hang out with her forever and geek out about movies.

I just rewatched Lady Bird. When they asked Greta Gerwig to do Barbie, they knew they were asking for something unexpected and amazing.

To be clear, the very same elections board that kindly updated my registration last week and ensured I would receive a ballot then told me my son could not register because he does not reside in Florida. Which... I don't either.

Americans can vote. Wherever they are. Ensuring Service members, their eligible family members and overseas citizens can vote -- from anywhere in the world.

Can a US citizen who has never been a US resident vote in the US? It depends! www.fvap.gov/citizen-vote...

I've lived in Mexico for 25 years and have had no trouble voting at my last US residence in Florida. However, my son, born a US citizen in Mexico and now 20 and studying in Canada, cannot vote in the US because he has never resided there and Florida does not grant eligibility to descendants.

Did you discuss US citizens living abroad who are unable to register to vote?
