Anthropic’s report shows AI is automating cyberattacks, lowering the skill & resources needed. For electricity, especially DER/VPP, this means building strong cybersecurity in from day one. Being small or obscure won’t protect you when attack costs approach zero.

Also seems like a very big disincentive from offering innovative TOU FiTs.
Interesting! I enjoy that 9-10pm is also a magical $0 FiT time in the ToU minimums too. Like hey the market at 3:15pm is going gang busters for your solar but at 9:20pm they want none of it. And then 10:05pm back to valuable.
Me too!

“It’s perhaps more appropriate to think of the lithium-ion battery not as a single invention, but as a slow, steady accumulation of many inventions that were needed to both make a battery practical and to unlock its full potential.”

Declan "I simultaneously signed up to six different retail offers" Kelly stress tests the retail switching systems.
Which retailer wins? Was this the cause of the AEMO market systems outage a few months back? Is Declan going straight to energy jail?

Here’s hoping every report starts with a small vignette linking CER integration to actual cicadas 🤞
Meter readers is a good idea. Whenever I hear SAPN and controlled load it takes me back to 2014 where electronic timers were way to accurate and caused high ramp rates from all the circuits switching at the same time.
Even in 2014 they mention daytime HW heating! www.aer.gov.au/system/files...
For existing dumb meters it takes a truck roll! As I understand it the smart meter option primarily just needs a way for the retailer to interface with the metering coordinator. The ability for the metering coordinator to control the circuit is already there.
The use of controlled load circuits on solar households will be an interesting one to watch. Anecdotally I’ve heard many switching their HW onto the main circuit when getting solar installed. New retail products might reverse that trend. Great trial.
