Also, judging by a very quick search, they've sexualized ferals in the past, so they don't have room to talk.

Don't worry about it. Morality is generally subjective, and some people are really, really bad at making morality judgements. Just block them back and move on.

I love that little twitch of the thumb at the start, like the transformation almost starts there, but the person tries to fight it, and then loses and becomes a wolf anyways!

Biblically Accurate Cal. This is the closest he has to a true form, I think, inspired by a White Hole.

Most of the people Spider-Man deals with on a daily basis are petty criminals, who absolutely are victims of social injustice in several ways - but I wouldn't say that's his main schtick. His main schtick is that he's a product of mad science fighting mad scientists (Green Goblin, Doc Ock, etc.)
