The original version aged poorly and is really really hard, but the psp and pixel remastered versions are really enjoyable to play. The story is cool and the music is awesome.
The fact that it's a grindfest is completely justified by the story.

It can't compete with the masterpiece that is 7, the character development was limited by the console capacity but it was revolutionary for its time.
