Just witnessed a driver in an SUV barely avoid crashing into a person riding a bike downtown because the driver was rushing out of a back alley 😬
If the person riding a bike hadn’t been able to swerve so quickly it would have been a very bad crash! #YEGBike

Lively outdoor farmers’ market on a city street. White canopy tents with vendors line both sides, as shoppers walk, carry bags, and push carts. The scene is busy and cheerful with chatter, footsteps, and the smell of fresh food. Trees and tall buildings frame the background.
Outdoor street performance at a farmers’ market. A blonde woman stands under a white canopy playing guitar and singing into a microphone. People sit on bright teal plastic chairs facing the stage, while others stand nearby. The scene feels casual and inviting, with the sound of live music drifting through the busy market.
Brown paper bags filled with loaves of bread sit in a cloth bag inside the basket of a bicycle. The bags are crinkled open, showing the fresh bread inside. A brick wall in the background adds warmth, while the scene suggests the smell of fresh baked goods and the simple pleasure of a market haul.
Close-up of a white bike helmet with red and blue racing stripes, hanging from the frame of a black bicycle indoors. The bike has a rear basket with a bag inside.
Perfect day to do a bakery run a stroll through the Downtown farmers market. First outing with my new helmet too!
Oh and shared the bike lane with a lost motorist in an F150 for a couple blocks 🤨. A brief irritation during and otherwise lovely outing 😊.

Got your tickets, #yycbike?
83rd Ave contraflow bike lane is open east of 99th St, while the main traffic lane is still closed, but should be reopening soon.
Fringe site detour sign heading westbound at 83rd Ave and 100th Street.
Attention 83rd Ave riders:
The good news is that EPCOR is filling in the holes and finishing construction between 98th and 99th street.
Bad news is that they'll be closing the bike lane between 101 and 102 St starting on Wednesday.
Alternative is the Fringe site detour via 100St & 87 Ave. #yegbike
Alt text: A black electric bicycle with brown leather handle grips and seat, a red front basket, and a rear cargo rack is parked in a black metal bike rack against a brick wall. The bike has colorful stickers on the frame and a rear-view mirror attached to the left handlebar.
Follow up - I ended up finding a rack by the Safeway! Great spot - shaded and covered from weather, high foot traffic by the doors, and a 2 min walk from the North mall entrance!
Thanks again for your help.

Switched to Apple Maps and I see the racks you mentioned! Also found some by the North entrance. Thanks so much 🙏
#yegbike Anyone able to guide me to bike parking at Southgate Centre? I’ve tried to spot something with Google Map street view and can’t see any.
Illustration of a multi-storey urban building showcasing various activities inside and outside. Each floor features people engaged in everyday life: gardening on the rooftop, living and working in apartments, exercising in a ballet studio, socializing in a café, and shopping. Outside, people gather under a tree, ride bikes, and board a bus labeled “Together.” The title Soft City: Building Density for Everyday Life by David Sim is prominently displayed in yellow text on a blue background, with a foreword by Jan Gehl.
Just picked up an e-reader and diving into ‘Soft City: Building Density for Everyday Life’ by David Sim, borrowed digitally from the Calgary Public Library. 🏙️📚 Excited to explore how urban density can create vibrant, people-friendly spaces! #Urbanism #SoftCity
Their website says the Veemo is designed for all seasons, but ya, it doesn’t specifically address road salt or other winter durability concerns. Good concern!
Velomobiles, which are enclosed, pedal-powered vehicles, have historically struggled to gain mainstream acceptance. Vancouver-based VeloMetro Mobility, known for its Veemo velomobile, declared bankruptcy in January 2023. In July 2023, Envo Drive Systems, also based in Vancouver, acquired Veemo's assets. Envo plans to relaunch the Veemo, aiming for production by summer 2024.
Envo's strategy includes: • Improving Design: Enhancing the vehicle's features to appeal to modern consumers. • Targeting Urban Commuters: Positioning Veemo as a sustainable alternative for city travel. • Leveraging E-Bike Popularity: Capitalizing on the growing acceptance of electric bicycles to boost velomobile adoption. The success of Envo's venture will depend on overcoming previous obstacles that hindered velomobile acceptance, such as cost, practicality, and consumer awareness.
Here’s a Chat-GPT summary of it if that’s helpful
Portrait of myself taken by Jean Perron. Looking off into the distance holding an apple carved out to look like the Apple company logo.
I was fortunate to sit for him that year too. He knew I worked for Apple at the time and loved their tech (I still do!).
Oh no 😢. I assisted Jean a few times, he was a master photographer!

🌟 Cultural Significance: It reflects Newfoundland’s community-focused and fun-loving spirit, offering a chance to relax and celebrate with loved ones during the holiday season.
It’s a uniquely Newfoundland way to kick off Christmas! 🧵🛑
🍻 Modern Celebration: It’s known as a time for friends to gather, share drinks, and enjoy good company before the family-focused celebrations of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day begin. Many consider it a “friends’ Christmas.” 🧵
🎄 Origins: The term “Tibb’s Eve” comes from an old English phrase referring to a day that doesn’t exist (like saying “When pigs fly”). Over time in Newfoundland, it evolved into a name for December 23rd. 🧵
This is new to me and I’m absolutely celebrating it now moving forward!
Tibb’s Eve is a Newfoundland and Labrador tradition celebrated on December 23rd, marking an unofficial start to the Christmas season. 🧵
