@realfollowers.bsky.social how many are real?

I’ve just heard that one of the true greats of SF writing, Ian Watson, has passed away. A huge figure of the genre and an enormously entertaining character. A real loss.
I love not using AI. I love looking at art made by human beings, sculpting kaleidoscopic mushrooms out of clay, learning a new skill from a real person, playing with cats, spotting bats silhouetted in a crepuscular sky. Not using AI is very fun.
So today consisted of a walk with the little one, hiding from rain in a pirate ship, exploring a 'forest' and talking about earthquakes. And to top it off, I get to watch the Hungary election results with a glass of wine after he fell asleep. It's been a good day.
Half-way through Ordinary Monsters by J M Miro, and it is so far a delight to read. Even more so as I picked it up at the library by more or less chance.

Landscape with ominous clouds
Ominous clouds today. Loving being slightly unsettled by the weather (slightly being the operative word).
Absolutely. Agree on all points.
Read Sheila Averbuch's Pitch Your Book this holiday. I am really rubbish at this so it was useful to see it broken down into manageable pieces.

Waiting for the storm Dave to hit, holding on to my book and considering if we have enough food in. Minus 'Dave' this sentence would fit a lot of days in the past year.
Murder at the House on the Hill by Victoria Walters.
Easter means consuming copious amounts of fictional crime, which is convenient as I have dozens of murder mysteries in my backlog.

I am obligated to go with Loki as a norwegian. That said, most of them make for excellent stories.
Decorative image and text: who's your favorite trickster?
Since today is a National Day of Smoke and Mirrors, let's talk tricksters! Who's your favorite trickster from legends, stories, movies, games, or anywhere else?
Signed, and thank you
One more for the TBR. That list is getting long. Also, what a cover!
Absolutely (coming from the soapbox next to you).
Happy reading to you too!
Libraries are fantastic. Curated knowledge, free for all. I'm so glad I've found my way back to mine. Use it or lose it, and I don't think we can afford the latter.
Picked up Ordinary Monsters by J M Miro from the library. So far, so intriguing. Also, the first 50 pages alone contains enough story to fill a full novel.

Storygraph export message
You can export. Not tried it myself so can't tell you format.
I think maybe the only thing that can salvage my general disposition this year is a deep dive into nostalgia
A smidge of 'why not' for courage?

Black and white cat in lap
Happy #caturday. Pumpkin is tolerating Young Sherlock, as long as lap is provided.
Nope. No more this week. I only have headspace for books, food and a trip to the garden centre for the next two days.
Happy upcoming birthday!!
Backpack cat carrier (much easier to lug around) and one of those telescopic cat teaser wands with an interchangeable feathered toy at the end of the line for maximum murder feels.
Yeah, I'm not sure about present tense. I have enjoyed writing/reading short pieces in it, but in anything longer it feels cumbersome after a while. That said, each to their own, and I got used to first person so never say never.
Santa Clarita Diet for me. Zombies and Timothy Olyphant - it deserved a resolution.
It is really good fun, and Moriarty is a delight to watch.
