The Red-State War Against Blue Cities St. Louis has a Missouri problem. But like many other Democratic cities in Republican states, it can fight back by expanding.

Missouri Republicans have a plan to bankrupt St. Louis and lure the ultra-wealthy with tax cuts. This will not work—rich people don’t want to move to Missouri, @devintoshea.bsky.social writes lovingly. www.thenation.com/article/poli...

I have the utmost love for my fellow parents who are watching all this unfold in between bouts of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and peek-a-boo. It's completely surreal. 💔

Exactly that. Amidst all of this, my grandma was just denied placement at a rehab facility through her Medicaid. That pales in importance to what's happening, but it is related. We're funding one at the expense of the other.

According to Minnesota police, Pretti had no criminal history beyond traffic violations, he worked with critically ill veterans, and he was legally carrying a gun in his belt while filming ICE agents with his cell phone. Video from the scene shows Pretti trying to help a woman who had been shoved by one of the agents, before six or seven agents pile on top of him, pepper spray and beat him while he’s restrained on the ground, remove the gun from his holster, and then shoot him several times in the chest until he’s dead. He never reaches for the gun or threatens the agents in any way; his hands are empty, he’s disarmed and lying helpless on the ground before they start spraying bullets into his body. They could have just arrested him, even though he hadn’t done a single illegal thing—but they killed him because they felt like it.

I bet we are at the point where we could get a member of the press to write ‘A bullet entered my spine during an altercation with deputies, according to police.’

Have you corrected the age or were there two people shot? Your article doesn't say it's been updated but the link now says 37.

What's also frustrating is it's always been optional! No one force vaccinates. You just can't come spread diseases to other innocent children.

The 5-year-old arrested by ICE In Minnesota is detained at Dilley. We reported on conditions there in the below article.

Parents said the food was contaminated with mold and worms & that children were so under so much stress that they were hitting their own faces & wetting themselves.

I was coming to comment this too. That's a literal infant. Which sounds like semantics, but if you have one, it's not. They are still so small and vulnerable at six months.

Designing roads based on peak traffic is a terrible idea. It's how we end up with overbuilt infrastructure we can't afford to maintain and a downtown full of empty parking lots. I wish more residents, engineers, or other stakeholders had been interviewed.

Can someone tell HBO that watching an episode of John Oliver does not equate to being interested in Bill Maher afterward?

The entire pundit class has convinced people for so long that their “analysis” was somehow necessary and valuable when in reality it was just a con game to manufacture consent for bias-confirming “strategies” that only benefited the capitalist class and guaranteed pundits career security.

I once asked a local bookseller for a recommendation for a friend's kid, and it happened to be the person who orders all kids' books. His whole tour was one of the most passionate things I've ever witnessed and restored my faith in humanity for a little longer. 💜
