I think it's bad to encourage people to commit actions that will likely get them arrested, making finding work and housing more difficult for them in the future.

The Trump administration just announced they are prosecuting civil rights groups for infiltrating and exposing the KKK and other white supremacist groups.

The acting head of the CDC has canceled the publication of a study that found that the Covid vaccine sharply cut the odds of hospitalizations and emergency visits last winter, a Health Department spokesman said.
a map showing a Mississippi where all 82 counties are shades of red
A map showing Mississippi's 82 counties, many shaded red and pink, many shaded blue and purple.
Left: How people think Mississippi votes
Right: How Mississippi actually votes
It's truly amazing how Trump, having successfully executed a palace coup against the despot of a small, collapsing failed state, thought he could just knock over a big country with substantial military assets instantly with no complications or retaliation.
Something needs to be clearly understood here: Dems hate partisan gerrymandering. We want it abolished. We abolished it in California, and Virginia. But we SURE AS HELL aren't going to stand by while MAGA gerrymanders its states out of a Kantian commitment to principle. It's a war and we will fight.
Trump math.
Other people have noticed this, but it's really weird how many raging alcoholics are in Trump's cabinet given how much he personally despises people who drink too much.
"It could take six months to fully clear the Strait of Hormuz of mines deployed by the Iranian military, and any such operation is unlikely to be carried out until the U.S. war with Iran ends, the Pentagon has informed Congress"
This is my shocked face
Trump takes loyalty where ever he can get it...and qualifications are no obstacle
Trump is an existential threat to democracy because there’s no adverse outcome he will accept as legitimate.
Plain as day.
This is very Christian coded too - growing up, the youth ministers I knew were calling Jesus "Prince of Peace" all the time.

Excellent piece by jamelle Bouie today on the staggering corruption of the Trump govt.
Through March 31, the number of grants awarded by the National Institutes of Health is down by more than half compared with the same period last year, a Post analysis found.
There are also fewer grants focused on women’s health, cancer and mental health, the analysis found. https://wapo.st/48dWJWX
I'm just a small-town strategic studies student but it's really not great when neither side has a strategy nor can they even agree to one and then adhere to it.
It is objectively bad for democracy that both blue and red states are doing extreme gerrymanders.
But the only feasible solution — a national ban on partisan gerrymandering — has only been endorsed by one party. And it's not the one complaining about Virginia right now.
Ending war is a fundamentally political process so political discord within one (or, in this case, multiple) party renders that much more difficult. An outcome of decapitation strikes can be precisely this sort of political discord.
We must be in the hundreds of instances in which he has called a person of color (esp women) ‘low IQ.’
The President is a racist. It’s not complicated.
Jesus.
Seems like NYT should have mentioned that UAE's spymaster bought 49% of Trump's World Liberty Financial and used $2B of its USD1 stablecoin, directing hundreds of millions to Trump.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

They think you're stupid.
Alan Dershowitz's defection to the Republican Party could have a chilling effect on Democrats' ability to recruit authoritarian pro-Netanyahu pedophiles who continually go on Fox News to praise Donald Trump.
It is inconsistent with our country's norms and traditions for Democrats to fight back. We encourage Virginia Republicans to bring a lawsuit against the new maps as soon as possible.

So we are back to the old “maximum pressure” campaign of his first term after the JCPOA withdrawal, minus even more credibility and a lot of munitions, plus immense human suffering, the Strait as a new problem, and higher incentives for Iran to go nuclear.
Humiliation, maybe escalation later.
The US appears to suggest one can have a cease-fire and a militarily enforced blockade at the same time. It is worth reminding everyone of the Definition of Aggression (1974): the blockade of another state's ports is an act of aggression.

Almost everyone I knew at USAID were dedicated, hardworking professionals who cared deeply about their development work - and did more net good than most anyone else in government. Musk, Vought and Trump’s wipeout of an entire profession should never be forgiven.
