Going through 5 of the 6 boxes of manga in the closet. Each box has what,50 to 75 issues? (5 columns of over 12 books). Forgot so many of the titles. A lot of titles where I only got the first issue, or a stray 2 or 3 books. Many I read up to first 5 or 6 volumes and even more.Wish I had the space.

So much useless junk…
I’m sometimes jealous of people who feel fine living with very little, light and free as the wind, ready to move anywhere, live anywhere. I don’t have a family home to leave my stuff in storage behind so maybe that’s part of the reason I carry a lot with me, but it’s getting hard to keep track.
Most are boxes of old sketchbooks and college material, old tech, old media. And lots of might-be-useful knickknacks which would make more sense if I live in a house with space to spare than a cheap apartment.
Finally tried to see if I can make some sense to the content of the forbidden closet. Will I dare open manga boxes for artwork that feels relevant again to me? I already have so much lying the apartment. I need less mess, not more 😩 Feels like an impossible mission. I’m not “MarieKondo-FU-Books”
Read long ago about the "google memory phenomena", where people actually remember less than they used to; that a lot of the memory relies on doing searches, therefore the brain has to put less effort in retaining precise information.
...I can't remember artists' names for **** anymore. wow. been too reliant on online memory help through icons, links, follow list, and regularly seeing the names scroll by. but from scratch after a year and my memory for their handles are just zapped out of me cognitive reach without reminders.
crazy
That's what I thought :conflated with IG accounts as you're somewhat "automatically signed up", or signing up's as easy as a press of a button for IG users, but I did search for "active users" and not sure how that lines up. IG does bait you into checking out thread posts even without an account.
I actually thought this place here was a little bigger but it really is a small community. over 40 million signed up but very few of them use it much. Haha. Fine on the social side. Not sure it’s fine for business and I do need that side of things in order to eat.
Man, surprised so many actually use Threads. Bummer. My main reason to avoid it and X is because of the active AI scraping, basically taking ownership of your art. Both have daily active users in the hundreds of million, here, daily is 3.5 million at most.
I just staid away from the toxic side there
Did feel that way last few years
Noroi: The Curse is also worth watching. It’s from 2005 and may have inspired a few things since.
Feels like I saw the movie before.
So weird.
They're reliable, solid without being scratchy/too rough. Don't want oily : less control and messy.
Could order on amazon, on steadlter shop, twice the amount for same price. So yeah. Guess I'll just have to stop shopping at Omer de Serre. Although I look at the other art store around, 2.99. Same price, when not on sale. hmmm
Steadtler. Tried others but I still prefer Steadtler's balance. Didn't check to see if it was just the art supply chain store I go to.
Seems it's the shop.
Most of my life, a product around those prices (say 1.99) would increase be a few pennies, 15 cents at most. This is a 50% increase from one day to the next. a whole dollar. Same with so many products these days.
(sorry I’m not using the funniest scene in all the series’ in the right context: I needed mouth foam 😠)
I am aware of that.
One day we get Summer t-shirt weather, the next day it snows. Yay Canada.
I guess "material" rings as something that could stand on it's own or be an integral part of some edification, while "content" implies it's within a shell and could be replaced by anything else.
It used to be called “the material” fot a long while in production circles before, I think.
That said, I do share a similar sentiment, which is probably shared by a large majority of artists: we probably got into art for reasons that go against what the public aspect of these demand of us.
Too bad the work of art many seek is the packaging.

Big difference is I throw “quality” to the wind with doodles and see it as a form of daily comfort food and entertainment, something to practice or to experiment with, without the pressure of being at my best. If that day it sucked, it sucked. No biggie. The expectation bar isn’t set so high.
Often see messages how some don’t like content creation mindset with social media and algorithms. I get it. But I do enjoy that little push to do daily doodles. One of my daily highlights.
That said it may be distracting me from focusing on bigger more complex works of art I could be doing.
Good morning ☀️

Yes, it's Leona from New Dominion Tank Police
Right now it’s on paper: I was getting pretty good drawing with natural media around Summer/Fall last year, and worse digitally (the Huion Incident).
This week I struggled doing anything that wasn’t just a head and part of upper torso.
Improving a little now but geeze louise
