Ack, good idea :-)
Also maybe - when is Python/Rust the right answer?

When I interview, I claim one of my superpowers is being credible. I thought about that a lot recently. Doing what you say you'll do, having a track record of what you've done. These are really baseline expectations, but need to flaunt them more these days..

One of the things I like about my work is the “okay so what?” Asked around every corner. Bullshit is quickly found, and you’re forced to come prepared with data

Right, there are a lot of unintuitive idiosyncrasies I get that, also discrete methods that have no counterpart in other languages. e.g when to use take()? Why does as_deref return X? Etc.
Thanks this is useful for my updates.

py2rs.info - Python to Rust for Developers Learn Rust coming from Python. Tutorials, guides, and resources for Python developers transitioning to Rust.

I released py2rs.info a few weeks ago to help Python developers make the jump to Rust. What's missing that would help you?

That's a good description of what PE's do at AWS.
Looking for the most leveraged way to spend your time is the north star. I try to figure out where the bad smells are and how to figure out a path forward.

It’s a wip, there are some tough challenges integrating the swift network code back into kind 😅

That’s great, I’ll try and be a bit more intentional. Most of the folks I follow are probably skewed to the US which certainly doesn’t help.

I see barely anyone from the UK on Bluesky, which is increasingly making it alienating to me

Learning a new language isn't a way to increase my leverage.
Learning how to speak to a new cohort or community totally is. Those were some fundamental truths I learnt quite recently that have helped me enormously at AWS.

@civo.com Navigate feels like it might be the next Kubecon for me. Small scale, lots of interesting people, think it's time I put forward a CFP.

If I had a $ for every company combining VSCode with MCP to make IDE's. I would have at least $10

Not having a desk at work really grinds my gears. I end up hot desking every day, it's stressful.

I wrote something in cursor, and the time I spent wasn't where I anticipated. It got the idea of the codebase and what I was trying to do. What it didn't grok was integration/unit tests failing shouldn't be replaced by wholesale code edits, they exist that way for a reason.
