second paper focuses on HDAC11 in diabetes-induced inflammation. Diabetes is associated with inflammation, endothelial cell dysfunction, and increased susceptibility to infections. HDAC11 plays a key role in this inflammatory pathway.

first study describes SIRT1 in vitamin B12-associated inborn errors of metabolism. Impaired Methionine Synthase in brain leads to dysregulated WNT signalling and neurological defects. SIRT1 plays a central role and restoring SIRT1 can largely rescue the phenotype.

Happy to contribute to two new collaborative papers, both involving epigenetic dysregulation in disease mediated by HDACs: 👇
If you are a student from China, and interested in doing a PhD in my group in stem cell and cancer epigenetics, this would be a great opportunity (a dedicated scholarship).
Deadline for initial application is January 27th.

So happy to visit Sheffield again to share our research and discuss science with brilliant minds.
Also finally visited the site of Krebs’s original lab 🙂
Join us for an extraordinary evening with Nobel Laureate Svante Pääbo!
Prof Pääbo will present a FREE public talk titled “Of Neanderthals and Denisovans, and how they live on in many of us” at the @crick.ac.uk.

Starting the UK stem cell network conference, with a welcome address by one of my scientific heroes. #UKSCN25
Very much looking forward to this excellent conference next week in Manchester; very important for the UK’s stem cell research community
Thank you
Please share: we’re recruiting a postdoctoral fellow – applications open until September 15!
To lead genomics data analysis of an exciting translational project in sAML cancer, supportive environment, and access to unique in-house technologies.

Very grateful to receive a new BBSRC grant and many thanks to #BBSRC panel, and reviewers for this generous support. This funding will enable us to address important unresolved questions in chromatin regulation downstream of WNT/GSK3 signalling in stem cells. @wntuk.bsky.social

Had a fantastic time at the INSERM grant review panel in Paris. It was truly inspiring to see so many talented young scientists; but only then you realize how challenging it is to choose the best among them.
A great learning experience, without a doubt.
Join us on our anniversary day!
This event will celebrate our prize winners and the summer students we have supported. It will also host a presentation by Prof Richard Durbin to recognise the anniversary of Sanger sequencing and the first draft of the human genome.
