It’s my birthday in a week and I was gonna be all insightful and draw some stuff but instead I have some work (?) and taxes and DMV shit to do.

I also won my family tickets in a draw from our local video game rental store (because I entered like a million times) to the opening night of the Double Dragon movie in a fancy theater in the city. It was dazzling to go to, but I do not remember that movie at all, I think it mighta been mad awful 😂

I do have a distinct memory of making it to the final boss in one of the Double Dragon games & I just hid in the corner of the screen the whole fight until my brother was killed, no lives left, and then I came out and punched the boss once and he died instantly. “I beat the game!” Bro was SO mad lol

Double Dragon & River City Ransom were in heavy rotation at my house growing up. I played those games hundreds of times with my older brother, and my memory has it that I was good at these games but I’m almost certain bro carried my ass 99% of the time.

My dad has lived in Canada for about 50 years but he still considers himself a Dutchman so I think it’s in my blood to just be tied to where you’re from.

I still remember when you came to visit and we got to go to my fav Cambodian restaurant that now closed 😭

And grateful I was able to meet so many others thru comics conventions and comics/art online prior to that, even if I was always too shy to do my own. Art really has shaped my life and I hope it continues to shape the rest of it in the wonderful ways it has.

It is my birth month 😈 being real reflective after 10 years here. I still feel like a Canadian but 10 year in LA I’m so grateful for all the people I’ve met, it’s heartwarming. Never thought in my life this would be where I’d end up but I’m glad I did because of y’all.
