Mind now racing with the potential Venn Diagrams between Oprah and Bigolas Dickolas
OOOOOH saving this to read later * v *
I will say I was right to get the kit that promised no glue because even the double-sided tape on some of the fiddly bits was repellant to me
When I think of needing to mess with glue
*shudders*
See I got the good good mix of brain stuff that means the hyperfixation is like "SHORT ATTENTION SPAN? NO PROBLEM. WE'LL FINISH IT FAST BEFORE WE CAN GET DISTRACTED."
Me: but I have to--
Brain: *aiming a sharpened piece of balsa wood at me* WE'LL FINISH IT *FAST*
It was fun! (with a vague terror of tiny wooden pieces snapping under my oafish fingers)
Would love to do another! (After a Break)
The piece was not essential.
I've done it.
Definitely some dodgy moments there.
Briefly thought I might have rigged up a light I could not access.
But EUREKA.
I've done it. ๐ค
Some great (and kind) advice here.
I'm assured by writer friends that one good thing you can do to support them is to buy not just new releases but explore their backlists.
Read SF/fantasy? Like queer stuff? I am part way through a project looking at great queer SFF from the 2020s.
2021 is here, and... 1/2
The transfer from your head to the page is never perfect. It's okay to write a bad draft and fix it afterward--nobody needs to see the bad draft, but it usually does need to exist. And honestly? Sometimes you aren't yet the writer who can pull it off, but you only get there by trying.
But what if it came in the form of still more emails T_T
Me: So, what are the kids into these days? More Bluey? More Gabby's Dollhouse?
Sis: yes but also [Nephew] treats every Mario game let's play stream like a Danny Go video, and we've also been watching a lot of meticulously designed hamster mazes with incredible foley work and production value.

Thank you so much John.
I wrote this story during the occupation of ICE in Minneapolis. There are links in the author interview and adspace on the actual webpage if you would like to help.
I picked out a No Glue option because I Love myself but boy am I nervous about some NECESSARY piece breaks.
What does one DO? Buy an additional box just for spares???
A piece of balsa wood(?) labeled B14, snapped off the little legs that insert into a painted floor tile piece.
I am putting together my first Book Nook, which I am now thinking of as:
"Lego, if the Lego could spontaneously shatter."
I don't THINK this piece was essential.
mockup cover of an anthology called [RECORDED], showing an old fashioned film camera with colorful glitch overlays, and a skull vaguely visible in the background; smaller text says "edited by Merc Fenn Wolfmoor"
'sup, sickos โ who likes FOUND FOOTAGE???? good, because SO DO I and I am going to spend my tax monies on BRINGING MORE FICTION INTO THE WORLD and editing an anthology this summer. because we need more weird art and I want YOU to help make it. ๐โฌ๏ธ

My friends got me this for my birthday one year and it was a delight to make.
I've been meaning to bring it in to work to decorate my cubicle... though I fear coworkers may not appreciate the X Files theme music tune as much as I did xD
