Matt Damon playing a 14th century French knight that looks like a third baseman for the Phillies. Mullet. Beard. Smells like horse shit, pine tar, and cigarette smoke.
Matt Damon while playing Odysseus who also looks like a third baseman for the Phillies. Long, skinny beard. Smells like horseshit, pine tar, and perhaps Mediterranean herbs.
Matt Damon playing a 19th century cowboy that looks like a third baseman for the Phillies. Mustache. Shaggy hair. Smells like horse shit, pine tar, and definitely chewing tobacco.
Every time Matt Damon takes on a period role he ends up looking like a third baseman for the Phillies.

“And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.”

The cover of Jeanette McCurdy’s novel “Half His Age” showing a close up of a woman’s pink lips sucking on fingers.
Half His Age is…fine. Interesting but not great. Some moments of shining truth. McCurdy’s prose is brazen at points but oddly timid in others. It juggles a lot of ideas, but is thematically muddy, a string of “and then”s w/o enough heft or truth to make its character growth feel earned. 💙📚 #booksky

given the modern conservative fascination with Sparta it's at least a little funny that they've engineered a situation in which Persia is able to level a dramatically uneven battlefield by forcing the conflict into a narrow pathway

Screenshot of a post from Mark Gadala-Maria @markgadala that reads:
This is wild.
143 million people thought they were catching Pokémon. They were actually building one of the largest real-world visual datasets in Al history.
Niantic just disclosed that photos and AR scans collected through Pokémon Go have produced a dataset of over 30 billion real-world images. The company is now using that data to power visual navigation Al for delivery robots.
Players didn't just walk around with their phones.
They scanned landmarks, storefronts, parks, and sidewalks from every angle, at every time of day, in lighting and weather conditions that staged photography would never capture. They documented the physical world at a scale no mapping company with a fleet of vehicles could have replicated on the same timeline or budget.
The most valuable Al training datasets in the world aren't being assembled in data centers. They're being built by people who have no idea they're building them.
I’m going to become the fucking joker

A cartoon illustration of a woman having her first sip of coffee and a multicolored blast of ideas are pouring out of her head. Caption reads "It only ever happened on the first sip, but it occurred the same way each and every damn morning."

For the same $6 trillion cost, you could crush child poverty with a child allowance and free childcare, fix unemployment insurance, do paid family, sick & medical leave, massively boost ACA subsidies, and eliminate child uninsurance with Medicare for Kids.

The cover of the Book Lollapalooza, an oral history of the ritual festival, showing Eddie vedder, Courtney love and Perry Farrel over a trippy, black-red-and yellow flamelike background.
Just finished “Lollapalooza” and…oof. Some interviews are truly interesting but it’s a lot of self-mythologizing. It needs more editorial oversight. Wildly false statements are left to stand. Inexcusable behaviors get a 🤷♂️.
An interesting snapshot but not a particularly good book. 💙📚 #Booksky

Success is Les Wexner's crime. Jealousy driving smug to smear him | Opinion
Too many pols, pundits and polarizers are less interested in evidence of lawbreaking than toppling successful people. By Phillip Derrow
This was written by a guy I forced off the New Albany, Ohio school board after I found his tweets comparing COVID vaccinations to the Holocaust. Shocker that he's sensitive about powerful people being held accountable for something.
