Trump Admin’s continuing assault on unions, unionized workers, and collective bargaining (e.g., Portsmouth Naval Shipyard) is an attack on all working people and must end. Working people are the backbone of the US economy and deserve a fair share of the wealth they help create!

Maine boasts the highest percentage of forest land in the US and understands that sustainable forestry is central to protecting our precious land and water resources and economic prosperity. It’s vital therefore that Sen Collins stop the Trump Admin from ravaging our US Forest Service #MEpolitics

I strongly oppose Maine’s pending transgender referendum - which targets and demonizes vulnerable children for political reasons. It’s important to always combat discrimination in any form and wherever it’s found to exist. #MEpolitics

Thanks again to the Wabanaki Alliance for hosting last evening’s US Senate Candidates Forum. It was great to meet with tribal members and to learn more about the tribes’ concerns and aspirations, including, importantly, the concerns and aspirations of some of the tribes’ younger members

Looking forward to todays’ Wabanaki Alliance US Senate Candidates Forum and discussing tribal sovereignty and other issues. Fully recognizing Maine’s Penobscot, Maliseet, Mi’kmaq, and Passamaquoddy tribes’ sovereignty is morally and ethically correct, essential, and long overdue.

We must always work to end discrimination of any kind in Maine and throughout the country. As part of that effort, we must strengthen the Americans with Disabilities Act to ensure that the rights and concerns of individuals with disabilities are fully understood and addressed.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and Maine’s Coalition Against Sexual Assault offers support at several centers in Maine. For more information see link here (www.mecasa.org/uploads/1/0/...) or call the sexual assault hotline to speak to an advocate 1-800-871-7741

Whether it’s the horrific stories tied to Jeffrey Epstein or today’s articles regarding resigning congressmen, it’s important to always shed light on the horrors and perpetrators of sexual assault; the actions to prevent sexual assault; and the support services available to survivors #MEpolitics

You don’t have to know much about Christianity to know that Jesus promoted peace and championed peacemakers over war fighters. President Trump should know better than to attack Pope Leo for doing what he’s been called to do - seeking peace and justice throughout the world.

Further evidence of Trump’s detrimental foreign policy is his (and JD’s) continued support for autocratic, pro-Putin leaders like Viktor Orban. Hungary, the EU, and the US would all benefit from an Orban election loss this weekend – as would Ukraine!

Pleased to see Maine Democrats supporting a millionaire tax. The revenue is needed to fund healthcare, childcare, and other essential programs. I support similar efforts at the Federal level to correct Trump Admin tax cuts and other policies that favor the wealthy over everyone else. #MEpolitics

Iran ceasefire. Relieved, though not surprised. Given the cost (in innocent lives, America’s reputation, damaged alliances, and economic chaos), Trump was desperate to get oil flowing again. Iran posed no imminent threat. Let’s hope he declares “victory” and ends this illegal war.

It’s great to see people excited about space exploration again (Artemis II)! If only we could get the Trump administration to focus as much attention on Earth science and end their historic disinvestment in critical, economy expanding scientific research and development generally.

If the Trump Administration and the GOP Congress are truly interested in increasing our nation’s security, they’d invest more in arms control, and peace and ally strengthening diplomacy and engage in less warmongering and saber rattling.

The Trump Administration’s push for $400bn+ in added military spending is misguided and unneeded, and would be far better spent on pressing domestic challenges like unaffordable housing, healthcare, and childcare; expanded educational opportunities; and insufficient retirement security. #MEpolitics

Unhelpful, unpresidential, scary Easter Post by Pres Trump: “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F—n’ Strait, you crazy b—--ds, or you’ll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah.” #MEpolitics

Given the importance of Maine’s US Senate race and the scarcity of substantive policy and experience analysis by the media, public debates and forums are indispensable. As one of the three Democrats on the primary ballot, I’ve said yes to all of them and encourage others to organize more #MEpolitics

While the DOJ has never been so badly misused by a president as it has under Pam Bondi, she apparently hadn’t weaponized it enough to keep her job. In replacing her, the Senate must, having failed previously, ensure that the nation’s interests take precedence over that of the president #MEpolitics

Congress must help in ending the war and ensuring that future decisions involving the use of our military aren’t the presidents alone. And while they’re at it, they should also address the problem of the president being the sole decision maker when it comes to employing nuclear weapons #MEpolitics

Trump’s war is a costly strategic blunder. Iran posed no imminent threat. It has disrupted the global economy; killed innocents; raised prices on almost everything; cost billions of dollars; depleted critical armaments; and harmed alliances when China and Russia pose greater challenges #MEpolitics

While working overseas, I served as an international election’s observer in Cambodia and Haiti in the1990s to aid in ensuring the integrity of their elections. We must be even more diligent in protecting our own elections this fall.

President Trump yesterday escalated efforts to suppress mail-in voting and voting generally. It’s disturbing that the president continues to employ such destabilizing, undemocratic, and unconstitutional behavior. “Concerned” Senator Collins needs to push back or step aside #MEpolitics

Data confirms what had been suspected. Most of the immigrants rounded up during Maine’s recent ICE surge were not criminals, let alone hardened criminals. Of the 192 people arrested, just 12 had criminal convictions. Sen. Collins needs to check the Trump Admin’s unbridled disinformation #MEpolitics

Good news. Applications for Maine's Paid Family Medical Leave program opened today. Up to 12 weeks of pay for Mainers who qualify. Covers personal & family medical, parental, military family, and safety from abuse leave. It’s long overdue & could be done more cost effectively nationally #MEpolitics
