I was alerted to this by somebodsy who'd had their passport application sent back b/c their GP had done what it says on .gov but there's apparently now these exta hoops.

If they mean 'diagnosis' in terms of being trans, many trans ppl these days don't have one = no passport.

Yes smoking is bad for you.

But having it legal for some people but not for others is totally unfair and is dangerous concept.

It's potentially off-putting for GPs - how do they know you live as yourself in all aspects of your life? What 'diagnosis' must they know you well enough to make? Are they supopsed to be thinking they should be able to diagnose you with GI?

It feels like they're giving GPs reasons to think twice.

old & new

My passport letter simply confirmed I'd changed gender & my GP thought it would be permanent.

This is all the GP has had to say up til now. Seems they've just added extra layers.

They've made updating the land registry more complicated too (I know b/c it changed while I was procrastinating).

It's these creeping changes towards ever more difficulty.

Thank you for rtying.

But that letter will go in the bin. While she books a meeting with Sex Matters.

Gender change evidence: letters from medical professionals

If a customer does not have a GRC we will accept a letter from a medical professional (which must be dated and include the medical professional’s handwritten signature) that confirms all the following:

they know the customer enough to make a diagnosis
their specified name and specified gender
they use their specified name and specified gender for all purposes
in their opinion, the change of gender is likely to be permanent

I saw this while browsing a FB group - it seems the govt haev quietly updated our passport requirements. And not yet updated the info that tells you what they need.
What "diagnosis" isn't clear...

They're making everything harder & harder...

I bet Sex Matters have seen it.

They probably wrote it.

Write to Stonewall.

• Tell them you supported them in the past.

• Tell them why you won’t be supporting transphobia.

Cut direct debts.

Don’t by the merch.

Tell your direct contacts.

Ah yes. The age old struggle of minorities to be tolerated by their superiors. That's what everybody was fighting for. Apparently.

T is OK for cis women but not trans men.

Puberty blockers are OK for cis kids but illegal for trans kids.

You see it, right? You see what this is?

Much worse.

Because now they'll be claiming they speak for us & govt will frame talking to them as consulting with the trans community.

That's very muxch what it looks like.

I think after they lost so much funding stonewall signed a pact with Satan to keep themselves going.

*This* in your bio & you're going out to bat for Starmer? - whose govt in two years has - deliberately - caused more harm to trans people than any other govt in UK history.

Get that trans flag out of your bio. It doesn't belong there.

I'm trans & he's deliberately trying to make life in the UK impossible for ppl like me. As well as attacking asylum seekers & having pensioners arrested for protesting genocide.

I'd rather rim Hitler than support that cunt. He's scum.

Wow, can @labouruk.bsky.social MP @tomhayesmp.bsky.social give any reason why he’s taking @greenparty.org.uk leaflets from properties?

This is unacceptable.

"...And then I put a whopping great transphobic ad on the front of my newspaper. Because nothing says LGBT rights like whipping up hatred against the trannies...amiright?"

I think it's important to highlight exactly how outlets like PE ferment prejudice.
I think anyone who reads that Abgail Shrier review & sees it as reasonable is too far gone already. I think - in fact I know - a lot of ppl don't actually realise just how vile media is about us & for how long.

There needs to be forthright condemnation of Stonewall's new chair'svsucking up to Rowling from her predecessors and a majority of the organisation's leading figures. This betrayal of trans people is utterly unforgivable cowardice.

Anyone who believes puberty blockers are comparable to ice pick lobotomies is already a transphobe. The point is the Eye have been relentlessly printing this shite for many yrs. And its readership gullibly hoovering it up. Me posting a couple of articles makes no difference.

Even back circa 2019 they were so transphobic it was simply unbelievable to them someone could come out as trans & simply be accepted at work.
Ofc 'the making of me' - a 2019 TV show simply following ppl's transitions - could not get made in the UK today.

Private eye has been ferociously transphobic for years now.

This, comparing puberty blockers to ice pick lobotomies is from circa 2021

Under Labour a disabled pensioner protesting genocide is infinitely more likely to be arrested than a rapist. And there's a fair chance the rapist will be in the police.

I was looking on Facebook (look I'm old ok) when I noticed a Stonewall post come up celebrating the reinstating of the pride flag at the stonewall monument...omiting to mention it wasn't the progress pride.

“We need to advocate for girl-only space and for safe spaces for girls and young women – and for us adult women, too.”

The chief guide from girlguiding is being very dogwhistle-y here.
I reckon the SCJ was just used as an excuse by a transphobic leadership to ram thru something they knew wouldn't fly w/the membership.
Probably the same w/ the WI too.

David Lammy, 2004, Parliament:

“The hon. gentleman may well approach the issue on the basis of separate-but-equal treatment, but the government entirely reject the implication of the new clause that transsexuals might set out to cause offence to others.

I've been saying this since Labour were elected.

It'll end up 'banning conversion practices' without actually banning conversion practices ('exploratory therapy' etc). Labour will use it as propaganda then use it to deny conversion practices are still going on - can't be - we banned them.

Literally this morning. This isn't some random transphobic account, it's a prominent figure in UK anti-trans politics, with 160k followers, routinely promoted and RTd by Rowling, "Sex Matters", etc. Just openly calling to completely ban being trans.

What are trans folks supposed to do with that?
