tldr going into this i told myself to do 10 mins a day but it didn't work, and if i do kimo again it's gotta be 1+ hrs per day like last year or i'm not gonna enjoy it..gotta clear my march 2026 schedule

i got to day 3 of kimodameshi 7 before deciding that i wont be doing the rest of it this time...focusing on other stuff outside of drawing for a little bit. maybe next year!

also an integral part to this story is that for years prior to today, i have ALWAYS been VERY early to my gate just to avoid missing my flights

...and it is exactly this break in my years-long habit that will play a crucial role in my destined slippage in timeliness 🤙

most of the time i am a very strong proponent of free will and agency, but this is one of the scenarios where "being better" is simply not possible and also not how it works

apologies to the future me who is destined to burn $500 confirmed and guaranteed, just know it's entirely out of my control 🤷

today i barely made it to my gate within 5 mins before boarding closed, and unfortunately i already know that due to having gotten away with this without feeling the sting of failure: i have not "learned my lesson" and am destined to repeat this a few more times until i actually miss boarding time

slight tangent but im also pretty careful about avoiding deboosts/shadowbans; i dont ever mention bsky in text & my pinned is an mspaint redraw of a bsky screenshot in case twt looks for bsky screenshots/urls in pics now (twtceo is petty enough to request this after the first migration wave imo)

if your -primary concern- is to afford making the move between platforms as an artist & you're not ready to nuke your twt, i think this approach is a reasonable starting point

(yes, i know this approach has flaws & will not solve every problem posed by the current state of social media for artists)

with the way most people consume art in their feeds (which is to glance at drawings for 0.5 seconds mid-scroll) i don't think this impacts twt engagement much

ppl who actually bother to stop and look will hopefully see the watermark; the goal is to motivate migration, even if it's by a small amount

since writing that one thread about twt/bsky, i've taken my own (quoted) suggestion & started something similar: i only post shrunken compressed versions (900px png8) of my drawings on twt, along with an unobtrusive watermark somewhere in the image instructing viewers to go to bsky for hd viewing
