Still recovering from surgery, so still quiet.
I just don't have the energy to do a lot of socializing anywhere but discord.
Even there, I'm limited.

I came to it through the games. I can't read the books.
It suffered from a lot of issues.
Including writers who hated the source material, shitty editing, & letting the actor who *became Geralt* walk.
Oh. And Hissrich as showrunner.
I walked when Cavill did. And I wasn't even a fan of his b4 W.
Do I think they'll hire me?
Not a chance.
I don't bow down to people just cause they're famous, and if the work is wrong, it's wrong, and I'm going to tell you so.
That's why people pay me.
Y'know? That's probably why people have problems with me.
Apparently, I'm intimidating or something. π€£
Check the pinned post. This is what I do, and I'm exceedingly good at it.
I'm also a gamer who's been playing D&D since 2E.
LMFAO!
Hire me, Hollyweird. You need me and others like me. BADLY.
Cause I actually don't watch much TV because I'm not that desperate for entertainment. π
other than money.
Don't get me wrong, I'd be absolutely thrilled if it's as good as the D&D movie.
I WANT good game adaptations. I'd probably watch more video stuff if I found even a quarter of them well done.
I didn't write this as anything but opinion.
And YES, HBO, I'm available π€£.
Video form game or book adaptation unless someone who truly loves the material made it.
Because. We. Can. Tell.
The main viewership market for this are gonna be gamers. We've been burnt sooooo many times already.
You can't fuck it up.
I'm honestly not sure after GoT if HBO has what it takes
are *at least* neutral to the source material.
I get why they wouldn't want a 'in episode 376 of Star Trek, X character did Y' kind of fan, and viewers can bloody TELL when the writers hate the source material, you know?
*Stares at Witcher.*
I swore Witcher would be my last attempt at watching a
No Newbon as Astarion? No viewership from me.
Goes for the rest of the VA cast too. They all did absolutely amazing jobs.
Another thing HBO would need is to have someone who truly loves & understands D&D high up in the creative process.
And please hire a decent bloody Editor.
Hire writers who
to do (like actually play it), & I'll get there eventually. Maybe.
I deeply agree w/Neil Newbon that a TV show/movie cannot be an exact replica bcs they're completely different mediums.
That said, there's no one on the face of the planet who can voice & act for Astarion as well as Newbon can.
I'm sorta middle ground on this.
It's a hard sell for gamers like me who've been disappointed so many times by game adaptations.
I'd give it a strong chance IF they cast the original voice actors. And ONLY if they did.
Otherwise? Meh. Better things

TBF my income on my books wasn't ever great, but I had *some*. I went so long without a purchase, I took them all down to edit. May as well.
It's not cheap to make a manuscript into a book if you want to have it at or better than trad standard. Which is probably preaching to the choir.
It's the generalized lack of concern so many people show that truly terrifies me.
Very well said.
AI slop is *already* driving poor, marginalized authors away from being able to afford to publish.
Ask me how I know.
βbecause the reason the piece-of-shit AI loves an emdash is because it stole all our work, and all our work features a lot of goddamn emdashes.
It doesnβt use emdashes.
We use emdashes, and it stole our work and then mimics us.
Emdashes and all.β
I'm the last one. π€£
And you'll get a Witcher Lore lecture if you rec that disaster to me. π€£
ROACH IS ALMOST ALWAYS A FEMALE CHESTNUT HORSE. And White-haired Fabio is NOT Geralt.
Strong feelings about another of my fav franchises being wrecked? Who could've seen that coming?π
Oh gods, so well done.
I really didn't have many edits on that show at all. Which... given it's me, that's *phenomenal*.
I have edits on *everything*. I do wish the last season had been longer though.
I'll take a look! I've heard the name but I'm not much of a TV watcher so don't know what it's about. Thank you! β€οΈ
And see if we have access π
.
Yup. We loved it.
He's 13 going on 50, so violence and sex is fine since I'm watching it with him.
We've seen The Expanse. I'm not likely to torture him with GoT or any of the Disney series.
We donβt have a lot of streaming access, so, please include the platform? He'd be bored silly by Foundation & sit-com = no.
Please rec a finished series to watch w/the kid when the Stranger Things torture is finished. (4 more episodes and I swear it feels like a year.)
Kid loves sci-fi, horror, action is fine, he'll mock funny, stereotypical alien costumes though, so Resident Alien I'll probably have to watch on my own.
I just realized that no matter how I spell it, Exorcist looks wrong so, whatever. If it's typoed it's typoed. Can't be arsed to look it up.
I'm grossed out by how many times we see 'El's' shorts in close up shots.
Like? Ew? Isn't she supposed to be a kid?
So far I've clocked plagiarized (not referenced) material from
Poltergeist
Back to the Future
Rosemary's Baby
The Excorcist
Halloween
Got better things to do, but I cld keep going.
My 'edits writing for a living' and 'writes dictionaries for fun' ass says, uh, yeah. Most fucking likely.
The number of plagiarized lines from previous IPs is enough proof of that. And like... we didnβt use language this badly even in the '80s. I was there. Then? Whatever.
This is wretched.
We're halfway through watching s5 of Stranger Things. (Not by my choice, kid wants to finish the series.)
What. The. Ever. Loving. Fuck?
I've yet to see a banana clip, cone bra, or sweater dress, and there's still a suspicious lack of mesh.

Disturbing anecdotal reports of "AI psychosis" and negative psychological effects have been emerging in the news. But what actually happens during these lengthy delusional "spirals"? In our preprint, we analyze chat logs from 19 users who experienced severe psychological harmπ§΅π
