Just a thought: How about we stop shaming the poor for buying things that may not be essential, and start shaming the rich for making a profit off things that are essential?

This is the exact level of respect unjust laws deserve.
I don't recall any previous transformative technologies that had to be sold to the public so hard. No one in 1999 was going, "Guys. Cell phone? It's coming, whether we like it or not. I think it's important, FOR WOMEN ESPECIALLY, to learn about cell phone. So that we're not left behind!!"
I grew up American Italian Catholic and no you and I got the same message. Pope Leo is definitely preaching what I was raised on.
Anne Hathaway bought the rights to a novel about a tradwife influencer who wakes up in 1855 and has to actually live the life she's been selling online. The book is called Yesteryear. It came out 3 days ago. The film rights were already sold to Hathaway, who will produce and star.
Holy shit, I have NEVER been more excited for a movie.
Tesla. Disney. CVS Health. United Airlines. PayPal. Billions in profits. $0 in federal corporate income taxes.
That money should be funding schools, healthcare, and public services.
This is why people are mad as hell.
Alternatively we could build actually walkable cities. I live in Uptown Chicago and haven't had a car in over a decade. It's great and it could absolutely work in other US cities. I've even been to suburbs that could cut down on car use a LOT with small tweaks to walkability.
We love to see it.
A new report from the University of California shows that the state's decision to raise the minimum wage for fast food workers to $20/hr didn’t hurt jobs, or raise prices much.
Data from over 2,000 restaurants shows that the $20/hr minimum wage didn’t reduce employment.

And best of all it was fully staged.

I'm mostly paying attention to Hungary's very small liberal and progressive population here. They're elated because they needed to crack the corrupt system, but they are also clear that this is the thing that makes the next steps possible. It's not the end goal.
He's still openly right wing. We can acknowledge this as an important step and the best we can hope for given Hungary's political reality without casting a reform identity on Peter he's never even claimed.
It's important to stay focused on what the next step needs to be.
Péter Magyar used to be in Orban's party. He's against all out corruption, which is a definite improvement, but he's still clearly right wing. I heard it described as being like if Mitt Romney were our next president. Definite improvement. I'm not going to pretend he's not a conservative though.
If that Archon is any indication I don't know that I want to see a Justicar. I think I'd much rather see them focus on the local shenanigans of Purpee Oregon.
The guy replacing him is also not great, but he's still a decided improvement. I'm just hoping for a shift towards independence and against corruption. The more day to day policies from the new government are still going to fill me with rage.
The thing I find most unsettling about this moment is the up close example of how people become aligned with horrors.
The Iranian govt is awful. Its people deserve better. Yet we want Trump to keep losing pol capital and power so we root for them. It's perverse.
I need a high resolution print of this up in my bedroom. It has everything.
City Council of Darkness is a WILD ride. Watching those babies complain about their plight when they all deserved out of hand blood hunts was something.
I get it. It's comedy WoD, but the level of off the rails they got still went WAY beyond what I expected.
This season is going to be a trip.
Look at the women at NASA.
They are the ones pushing the boundaries of science, solving problems most people can’t even understand, and carrying this country forward, while our politicians right now posture and stumble through talking points.
And they are doing it all with joy.👇
100000% Agree.
I grew up on a farm where we regularly had to fix our own tractors. I also briefly worked for John Deere and watched as they tried to justify why people shouldn't be allowed to do that. Get absolutely fucked Deere, right to repair forever and ever

Most likely, and of course, all speculation right now, this is why Melania did her 6 min statement today.
Amanda Ungaro was brought here as a 17-year-old model. She flew to NYC on Epstein's private plane.

Maybe Congress won't stop him. Maybe his cabinet won't. But keep calling for it anyways because their silence is deafening.

This is why I get frustrated by utopian leftists of all stripes. I want to get to something more egalitarian than majority rule, but while we're figuring those mechanics out we need to push for the least oppressive version of what we have today.
It's hard to do both, but reality doesn't care.
