Until we start to decode this cultural toxicity on a society-wide basis, people are always going to have trepidation around IQ. It continues to be used to abuse people today, but it is also a statistic whose measurement is used to help a lot of people get the resources they need. It's so complex.

I was severely abused in my special education program, called that certain r-word like it was my name, and that same word has made a resurgence in recent years. Intellectualist ableism is very hard-baked into how our society functions.

IMO: The western conception of intelligence as a fixed all-encompassing statistic which determines life success as a given, and which guarantees the ostensibly intelligent dominion over the lesser-intelligent, is so toxic that I can sympathize with the reason people dismiss the validity of IQ.

I wish I understood what it was about myself, the way I present, or comport myself towards others, which seems to make me unpleasant to transgender and non-binary circles. I have struggled to make friends who are not cisgender for so long, and I want to talk to people like me. x.x

Morrowind's weird idiosyncratic game design is perfectly exemplified by the fact that the one and only master trainer for the enchant skill is a dude in the middle of some ruins who attacks you on sight, so he'll only train you if you cast a calm spell on him first.

I love how many master trainers are just people in tents in the middle of fuck nowhere.

It's really cool when you wake up and your day is literally immediately ruined. A great breakfast.

On the contrary, younger people getting into stuff from before their time, things that have been far outpaced by modern technology, graphics or convenience (and not just video games, but yes, video games) - that's my bastion of hope against how much of today's content is treated as disposable.

My last concussion totally wiped out my memories of my father's funeral, and many other memories, which has been tough to realize and manage. It basically gave me ADHD my working memory is so bad now.
