3D Prints : Smoothing 3D desktop printers for the home consumer have become affordable and the quality of prints are very impressive. But unless you have one that can print with resin, and even with the highest Quality and smallest Layer Thickness setting the model will show some layers (although this setting will be finer and require less effort). There are a two methods I have tried for smoothing print layers from ABS plastic : Acetone Cold Vapor Bath and XTC-3D Liquid Epoxy Resin, so since I was planning on printing two sets of hands, thought I would do a side-by-side comparison of the results.

3D Printing : Pin one on Me! I have been working with 3D printing for 5 years now, still consider myself very much a newbie exploring this medium and having a lot of fun in the process. Continue to enjoy sculpting in 3D with ZBrushCore, learning tricks and techniques to getting a good model. Since my goal is to print the model rather than create a 3D illustration I can not use the great selection of tools and surface textures since fine details will be lost in printing and final smoothing of the 3D model.

"Immortal Beloved" head in a glass dome. Sculpted in #zbrushcore then #3Dprinted in ABS, goggles, and head/neck rings finished with metallic Rub-N-Buff. Wire-wrapped brass screws are embedded into the head and neck. Eyes are printed and glued into glass cabochons.

Every King needs a Queen Isabella. She is a #3Dprinted bust figure sculpted in #zbrushcore and printed with ABS filament. Mounted on a wood base with a velvet drape and tassel trim. White wool crêpe hair, fabrics, trim, and jewel embellishments.
