Been thinking about my life like, ‘what question are all these decisions the answer to?’

I will think a bit more about which book on psychoanalysis I would recommend.
Not sure. I genuinely find psychoanalysis to be one of the best working frameworks for practical and constructive theology. And I find D gets too quickly recuperated by Theobros and not respected enough for ongoing conversations with young radicals even where he disagrees.
1) Freud
2) Dostoevsky

If Bruce Fink did not exist he would have to be invented.
Watching what's happening in Cuba, I say again -- Canada must support Cuba.

Have you seen It was Only an Accident? I think it might have topped my year end list.
I thought Train Dreams was gorgeous but there was something in the nostalgic masculinity that really threw me off.

So, as far as I can figure it, collectively, a change in the bad rarely ushers in the better. Resistance to the worse is often in the name of the previous bad. And while steady incremental change is best it will not be achieved by incrementalism. Did I miss anything?
Wow. Sirat flirted dangerously close to the comedic there.

This kind of smart, walkable, mixed-use urbanism is illegal to build in most American cities.
I think you can still read fairly straight in that for some boots are now sounding very close (Mpls), while for others liberal accommodation to power has been devastating over time. I think Aime Caesar probably stated that most pointedly.
Dear bike nerds.
What do you call that silver piece? It has a vertical slot for the bike axle and I would like a more horizontal one to be able to adjust tension for single speed. I assume I could get one if it’s removable. @adalehunt.bsky.social ?
Seeing how Epstein was viewed as hub for discussing any manner of topic, a person of 'interest' to people who we thought we respected, I can't help but think of John Howard Yoder and the exploration of ethics beyond what the 'common' person can understand and handle. Anyone else getting that vibe?
I still think most integration/respect of indigenous spirituality is tokenism in that it necessarily needs to divorce it from political and material implications (à la Coulthard, et al).
While I have you three. Related to this conversation I’ve been reading Asad’s Formation of the Secular (now over 20 years). What’s happening today in terms of interrogating how we understand secularism, religion, etc.
Was recently thinking of a re-read!
There can be some wild cultural swings when scrolling TikTok. Clip of Asian high speed train going over 300 mph. Then an American professional food challenge eater taking on an 8 lb burger. If I only I could draw some sort of analogy…
Teeth are such a racket.

Just started Pluribus and yes it seems great but did no one watch Mrs Davis?
“The destructive tendencies of the masses that explode in varieties of totalitarian states are not so much death-wishes as manifestations of what they have already become. They murder so that whatever to them seems living, shall resemble themselves.” - Adorno
I follow at arms length but man that stretch and his return is wild.
“He who sets about cleaning up the house he lives in energetically enough, forgets the foundation it is built on.”
- Adorno
Mark Carney regularly says he ‘knows how the world works.’ While true this never sat right with me.
Adorno put it into words,
“Anyone who knows the business too well forgets to know it for what it is, his capacity for differentiation deserts him, leaving the threat of a lapse into barbarism.”
I have a new piece up at Political Theology Network. In which I attempt to find an adequate source of authority for the Christian left/liberalism.

One could do worse than commit themselves to a lifetime of studying Gillian and Jacqueline Rose.
