I love these folks and their store. There are some challenges to this business model in the current era and I don’t think parking is be the biggest. It could really use a bike rack nearby in the front. I use a sign post or something to lock my bike when I shop there.

Tourism is good but siphoning tax revenue doesn’t really help tourism. Pedestrianizing Broadway full time would increase tourism downtown if that’s what they want.

I travel by bicycle for everyday transportation all over metro and all the mayors have been the same. Rebranding of PW to NDOT has been an abject failure, mostly a PR exercise not a significant infrastructure improvement where it is really needed. FOC talks the talk but has not followed through.

Just tell the nice NIMBY folks that by October we will have so many Waymos running that we will need much less parking. This is coming sooner than most people think for the whole city. Start planning what to do with all that space.

All true, but NDOT in no way “serves” these communities, NDOT serves drivers who drive into these communities from the suburbs. NDOT only cares about cars not people.

This is a half baked concept that will at best be inefficient and will hopefully not be a safety hazard. I’m not outraged about this tunnel thing because they’re doing less harm to me than many things NDOT is planning and doing (and not doing). I don’t care I just won’t use it.

Making hummus on the moon? Scientists just grew chickpeas in simulated lunar dirt Symbiotic mixtures of fungi and compost could transform sterile lunar regolith into a soil suitable for growing crops on the moon.

There Is No Housing Affordability Without Building More Housing If we make it easier to build dense housing in cities, then the resulting supply boost will ease the cost burden on renters and put homeownership within closer reach for millions of households.

Cannonball

Aileen Cannon knows the deal, and I don't mean Kim or Kelley: Sprinkle pixie dust on Trump to hide his crimes, and be given the divine hammer known as a Supreme Court gavel. She's got all nerve right now, but is this the last splash for MAGA? A gigantic question.

She leaves with blood on her hands. There needs to be real accountability if we are going to have any hope of things getting better.

As the guy who wrote the book on zoning abolition, I'd like to go on record as saying: if you can use zoning to stop the concentration camps, fucking go for it.

High-End Construction Really Does Help Everyone A new rung at the top of the housing ladder permits people lower down to climb up.

new from me: a story about VACANCY CHAINS, the idea that underlies the argument that more housing is good even if you can't afford it www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

I can't even tell what I'm looking at. How does one get from the pedestrian bridge to Shelby Ave to get across the hwy to the the EN neighborhoods?

If they took one of the existing free lanes and turned it into a market rate lane (like Atlanta) I would be in favor of that and it would reduce travel time. Widening is a disaster.

Definitely construction has made it worse but this bike lane has always been filled with debris mostly bc it’s narrow and built in the gutter w no buffer to 6 lanes of hwyish traffic. One of the few places I give up and ride a bicycle on the sidewalk.

the previous world cups were held in RUSSIA and QATAR. Many slaves died building the stadiums in the desert in Qatar. FIFA loves dictators and the fans live for this event and it’s only every 4 years. They will tolerate authoritarian hosts.

Does it matter that this guy is not a actually police officer? Why do these clowns even carry guns in the first place?

@patkerrane.bsky.social you said the Sidekick does not get mad but you’re wrong, it got totally pissed when @davismattek.bsky.social and @lateroundqb.bsky.social took Daniel Jones over starting QB Sam Darnold

You shouldn’t be surprised bc this was always the plan even though Jacob and Clay denied that. But a 6 lane highway is not good for tourists, it’s for people driving thru from the suburbs.

Metro Councilmember wants NDOT to help make Elm Hill Pike safer “I’ve made NDOT aware of the issues on this stretch, especially with the lack of any turn lanes and the lack of any kind of signage,” he told News 2.

Last week I spoke with to @wkrnnews2.bsky.social discuss the continued issues with safety & speed on Elm Hill Pike.

How many more crashes will it take before action is taken? Let’s demand safer streets together.

Sources: East Bank Scrapyard Site Under Contract Billionaire investor Carl Icahn reportedly has a purchaser for 45-acre site on Cumberland River

Will the closure of the scrap yard on Nashville’s East Bank really happen this time tinyurl.com/4jrh3wa5? Metro’s landing an Oracle campus just downriver and redeveloping the stadium campus next door may have shifted the market enough to make something financially viable. Excited to see what’s next.

Welcome, new followers.

I skeet about making the world a little better for as many people as possible.

I’m working to do that by ensuring we build housing, connect to each other with safe transportation and infrastructure, and take care of each other as best we can by keeping things affordable.
