I am always amazed by the number of readers who have no idea what authors make on their books. Most think we are raking it in. Unless you are one of the authors in the rarefied air at the top, basically you’re making hobby money. You have to love writing to stick with it.

Last weekend we just talked about people making ridiculous decisions and laughed and lamented and poked a bit of fun (no, this is not political. The decisions are far from seats of political power but, boy, they’re 🧐)
My mentor has called me every 3 months for the last 10y. He’s not warm and fuzzy - being an engineer and a horse person - but his unwavering vision of my potential changed how I think of myself. And his calls have occasionally made the difference between soldiering on and folding up.

Then maybe consider not using your insurance at the independent pharmacy? Bc cvs/aetna are unlikely to be sympathetic to your preference for not using the business model they designed to do exactly this - constrain your choices exclusively for their benefit.
Your employer chose this option. Ask HR & the CFO to choose differently when this contract is up.
Since CVS owns Aetna, I don’t hold much hope for an appeal to them.

And yet I’ll bet good money this is where it would end up bc of moneyed interests and the path of least resistance.
I’m not being literal about MA - well aware of its disadvantages - but suggesting it would be the model, bc it’s in place and pretty easy to understand (as someone’s said, hc is complicated and how many legislators will take any time at all to understand it?).
Medicare Advantage is the current hybrid. It would be the “logical” transition to MFA.
Does anyone want that except the insurance industry?
