Whet was her reasoning?

Why do you say that? Genuinely interested

An openly gay man and a Puerto Rican woman, and a country that’s about as racist and bigoted as it gets. I’d be all over it. But other commenters are correct that somehow we have to meet the idiots who voted for Trump somewhere. What I want and what is possible, I realize, are two different things.

I don’t disagree with you. I just question what the level of energy and persistence is required to get us out of this mess. I see that potential in her.

I love this!

I disagree. It’s how and to whom she’s saying it. Her grasp of social media and clear, direct explanations set her apart. Her message is louder and hits a younger target—which, if they’re properly motivated to vote—could be a game changer for the next election. Assuming we have one.

Correct and unnecessary advice— thus my post about AOC, specifically. Furthermore, many have mentioned Pete and I’d take him in a heartbeat too.

How about repealing the Faircloth Amendment to expand public housing, directing funds to opioid treatment, advancing Green New Deal initiatives, and securing millions in community project funding? And let’s not forget the Fighting Oligarchy Tour. No small efforts.

It is, but please remember the action she has put behind it. The Fighting Oligarchy Tour; repealing the Faircloth Amendment to expand public housing, directing funds to opioid treatment, advancing Green New Deal initiatives, and securing millions in community project funding. Not empty promises.

Couldn’t agree more. I want it to happen in my lifetime

Thank you for the giggle Dave, really.

Ugh. It’s a fear of mine too. Please be wrong

I agree with you, but unfortunately we can’t elect a team for president. There are many well-spoken contenders, male and female. AOC is my gal. She reaches a very broad spectrum of the population and puts in the work. Her youthful energy is required for the job ie: The Fighting Oligarchy Tour

I wish it didn’t, but it certainly seems to when we’re talking about a presidential role. The televised debate between Trump and Hillary—the open forum where he was pacing and looming behind her while she spoke—had me convinced that people would choose her over that ghoul. I was very wrong.

Ooh — that’s a very sad conclusion. At the rate that women are losing their hard fought rights in this country (reproductive being at the forefront), you’re potentially talking Gilead with that conclusion. And let’s not underestimate the younger voters. 🙏

I hope you’re wrong, but I’m equally concerned about this possibility. The urgency is fierce. Sadly, I feel that ‘the great experiment’ —as we were once considered in the eyes of the world —has failed.

Call me crazy, but storming the castle—I mean Capitol—may be what it comes down to

Absolute power corrupts absolutely, as they say. I hope this isn’t true in her case—or Momdani’s, or anyone who manages to reach higher office. Have to say though, Bernie sure seems like an exception.
