Is creating distance learning as simple as baking an air-fryer cake? (Ft. Jo Dyer) In this episode Mike is joined by Jo Dyer, Director of Learner and Discovery Services at The Open University as we talk about cakes, bakes and how the OU makes (distance learning). Mike’s bee…

#OU_LD's very own @mikecollins.bsky.social has baked up another stellar #Pedagodzilla podcast episode. Great listening - even for those of us who haven't gotten on the air-fryer wagon just yet. 😉

I'm still doing this, and I'm still loving it. If you haven't listened in a while check it out, we've been trying some new stuff and it's a hoot to record and even better to listen back

Just had a lovely meeting with some of the Pedagodzilla book authors. Really reassuring to know that no matter where you are in the country, if you're working in higher ed you're bloody knackered right now

My special episode for #worldbookday! Good fun to run, edit and listen back to - with grisly rhyming and not so much dark undertones as a dark basecoat, detailing and lacquer.

New episode of @infiniteescaperoom.bsky.social is out! This one was an absolute pleasure to co-host, as cognitive load in escape rooms is a really interesting topic. Escape rooms can borrow (and perhaps should) borrow a lot from puzzley video games with this.

This evening we fixed our cooker. It's the third time I've had the guts out of it in 9 years and we're still very chuffed to keep the thing kicking. It was second hand when we bought it, so the thing owes nothing to anyone.

I'm noticing a direct correlation in how incoherent and dickish I am with how much sleep and coffee I've had. Interesting.

Crikey the stuff that's come out about how Meta nakedly pirated stuff to train their AI is mad. Smoking gun, person holding gun, person saying 'it was me I did it' next to the body of copyright. Even with this I'm not confident UK or US courts are going to do owt about it...

If you're going to put eye drops in the eyes of a sleeping baby, for the love of god don't do it after you yourself planned to go to bed. That way lies sadness for all involved

There's something really special about catching the moment your kid falls asleep. It's such an amazing transition - it's just on to off in a matter of seconds.

What can Jurassic Park teach us about embedding sustainability in course design? Hold onto your butts! In this episode Mike is joined by learning designers Paul Astles, Katrina Matthews, and Hayley Johns to answer the sustainably silly question: “What can Jurassic Park teach us…

New episode alert! It's sustainability meets Jurassic Park, but were we so preoccupied with whether or not we could, we didn't stop to think if we should?
