White text on the left which reads: Book review. The cover to You Shouldn't Have Come Here by Jeneva Rose at the center. Text beside the cover which reads: i listened to the audiobook. a thriller where a lady stays with a man on his ranch that she found through Airbnb. There's lots of tension, some spice, and it's told from both the man and woman's points of view. Two yellow stars below the cover with.

Text below the stars which reads: I give this book 2 stars because I loved the story right up until the ending. The ending changed everything, and in order for it to work the author had to withhold a lot of information from the reader.

The twist wasn’t my favorite, because it sort of came out of nowhere. It ruined the whole book for me, and the only reason I don’t give this 0 stars is I did enjoy the ride right up until the ending.

I listened to You Shouldn't Have Come Here by Jeneva Rose. Unfortunately, it wasn't for me

a teal background with pink text boxes. It says "Book Review" with the cover to Cappuccinos, Cupcakes, and a Corpse on the left. 5 filled in stars are on the right. The text boxes read:

A woman moves home after her mother's death to run the family's café. She finds her neighbor dead on her way from work and ends up reuniting with his son.

Despite being a murder mystery, it was a sweet story of two childhood friends getting to know each other again. I adored the book the whole way through. The MC spends most of the book trying to look for the murderer but ends up on the wrong path until the end when she finds out who it is. It's a sweet story despite being centered around death. Nicely grounded in reality.

I checked and there's like 11 of them? I might read the next one when I have an opening in my TBR

green and white striped background, with a clipboard at the center of the page. the text on the clipboard reads: James cleared this throat. “I’ve got something fun,” he said and waved the rolled up map at Daniel.

Daniel kept his eyes down. “Oh yeah?”

“Whatcha doing there?” James asked, his own interesting thing forgotten. Daniel’s thing was more important, obviously.

“Chore list,” Daniel said and waved the pen over the clipboard.
James sighed. That wasn’t fun at all. He unrolled the map and dangled it in front of Daniel, sure to get his attention this time.

“What’s that?” Daniel asked, finally turning to James. “A map?”

“Not just any map. The princess’s map,” James said.

 “The…princess?” Daniel obviously wasn’t following.

Daniel said, “Oh, that big chest was her belongings? It’s in one of the spare rooms now. I figured it was something from the palace for you.”

“Keep up, Psy. That chest belongs to the princess, as does this map.” James wagged the map in front of Daniel.

Daniel shook James off. “Okay, but why?”

“You hear she’s missing? Well, we’ve been hired to find her. And this map is going to lead us right to her,” James said, beaming. His chest puffed out just a bit and he laid his hands on his hips.

“Oh, was that the confidential job at the palace? Interesting…” Daniel said. He turned back to the clipboard.

ooo i love reverse outlining. it helps a ton to show at a glance all the things that need fixing

and that's exciting! we need more queer non-romance stories for our community to see themselves represented in

that's so cool~ i wrote a novelette for my newsletter that started as a Halloween thing, too. i love when the challenges turns into something complete and shareable

yeah! i LOVE editing. it's so much easier to edit a page that already has words on it than to put new words on an empty page

1 month ago 0 0 0 0

aww i'm sorry. but you can always edit it later to be a better word count after you've finished drafting

1 month ago 1 0 1 0

i feel that! i usually way underwrite so my current draft is gonna go from 62k to 100k when i'm done with it

1 month ago 0 0 1 0

good luck! i hope you're not querying for long~

1 month ago 1 0 1 0

you're an outliner? me too. i over-outline, honestly lol

my story's about a princess who runs away from home and the pirate captain who's hired to bring her back...and then kidnap her again

it's been loads of fun to write. an adventure romantasy—much different than my usual dark/urban fantasy

1 month ago 0 0 1 0

ooo cosmin horror. i'll have to check that out!

1 month ago 1 0 1 0

that sounds like a load of fun to write! is your first one published?

thanks for trusting me with your ideas! i think adding a physical threat sounds like a great idea. maybe the reality bender messes with some creatures that already exist and makes them violent/troublesome in some way?

1 month ago 1 0 1 0

does the reader know about the reality manipulator as this point in the story, or is like weird things keep happening but the reader doesn't know why yet?

1 month ago 1 0 1 0

Valid. But it's gotta get done, and you can do it!

1 month ago 1 0 1 0

You won a contest! :O that's so cool. I hope the judging goes well~
