This morning, a friend who had been traveling and was out of the loop asked me for resources to catch up on what has been happening in Chicago. If you are in a similar situation and need to catch up on the details, this piece outlines the events of the past week or so.
Israel’s Navy has intercepted dozens of ships in international waters, halting efforts by international activists to break Israel’s siege of the Gaza Strip and deliver humanitarian aid to the starving population.
Aint nothing like a freshly mopped floor and cleaned kitchen. Its rare both happen at the same time in this krip life and i am relishing in the fresh scent

Tbis week has been brutal. Trying to keep my head up and not cry myself into oblivion. Receiving the news of Trey Read. Then the administration's attack on trans people. Can my Black Trans Self be safer for just one day.
I try not to roll in fear, but I am not oblivious to the harm surr/around me.
I really wish this administration would leave trans people alone.
Many hard lessons learned but atleast im not afraid to try something and fail or be wrong

Funny how i turn on a pre-mede golden age of rap playlist and one of the first songs to play is "Fuck the police" by NWA
All police are bullies and we live in militarized police states, Black communities have known this for years. Their is no separation here. A soldier aint nothing but a cop in a diff uniform. There is no seperation of state and state. Police is ice, ice is the police.
If you cop, quit your job.
Oh its been a long minute but i am back to rant, i dont k ow if i have anything to add to the collective but rage, and fire.
The way my spirit was built up tonight!! I needed this. I needed a win.
That includes all of us that doesn't hold up isolation, punitive systems, or says that care is dependent on production.
Consensual systems of care, interdependent systems of care, radical care.
Yall your trans disabled homies are struggling. Check in on your disabled TGNC siblings. Its rough out here.
Its imperative we build our own sustainable systems of care because when the state falls, as it is crumbling now, we need a care plan.

Why is section 504 and medicaid under attack?
Grey gradient background with a black and white photo of Judy Heumann – a white woman with glasses talking into a microphone, sitting in her wheelchair, wearing a sticker that says “Sign 504” – in the bottom right corner. Text at the top reads: Remembering Judy Heumann. In a blue box, white text reads: On this day in 2023, we lost Judy Heumann, a pioneering disability rights activist. Her legacy – from the 504 sit-in to her work to pass other legislation like the ADA – is one that we look to and continue to learn from. There’s a quote on the left side that says, “Our anger was a fury sparked by profound injustices. Wrongs that deserved ire. And with that rage we ripped a hole in the status quo.”

Thank you @thekibosch.bsky.social for working with me on this piece. I wrote for @statnews.com about what medicaid cuts would mean for disabled people like me who rely on #HCBS. We could end up in nursing homes, or die.
