Egg: A Dozen Ovatures A Dozen Ovatures

It's an eggcellent time of year to put this dozen into a gift basket.

It's got clowns, space travel, and Jacques Pepin. Also your writer friend--me. Hey, Mary Roach and Jennifer Egan liked it!

Maybe also a word or two on the prep/space required?

Thanks for playing them. There is a deep bench of games like this by other amazing designers if you ever want more suggestions! (And please share if you find more; we’re always interested in standing on the shoulders of giants!!!)

PS. Pretty sure that the Algonquin Round Table was famous for its games of Mafia. There's a tradition at the Yaddo Colony, at least, that supposedly dates back to Dorothy Parker and Truman Capote's time there, IIRC.

The Broadcast by Six of Hounds Tell the truth and you'll doom yourself, but maybe save the nation. An absurd larp about journalists and dictators.

We're honored and delighted.

If games about dictatorship interest you, we've got another one called The Broadcast, a satire about press censorship. It's quite funny to play...but also brutal.

Slow Walk by Six of Hounds Cute animals sabotage a mousetrap factory. A serious larp.

@lizziestark.bsky.social and I wrote a game about grinding the gears of oppression in the most annoying, deniable ways, inspired by the 1944 Simple Sabotage Field manual of the OSS. It's cozy! You play cute forest animals who work in a trap factory for predators! sixofhounds.itch.io/slow-walk

@jmstar.bsky.social and I have a new game out, about cute animals committing SABOTAGE in a way that maintains plausible deniability. Check it out!

Wish I did. There is, of course, Atzor in the early 1900s. I sometimes wonder where Mafia first popped up too. But the historical antecedents run real deep and I wouldn’t be surprised if there were many more to discover!

Reminder—@jmstar and I made a short, wickedly comic larp about a crew of newscasters weathering censorship.

SECRETARY RUBIO: Well, I think there’s a little bit of common sense here. You come to the States and then you decide you don’t like those paper straws that some of the stores are selling and you start protesting or complaining about paper straws – I mean, we’re obviously not going to yank a visa over that. I think it crosses a line – think about it this way. No one has a right to a visa. These are things that we decide. We deny visas every day for all kinds of reasons all over the world. We deny visas because we think people might overstay. We deny visas because the country they come from are people that historically overstay. We deny visas every day, and we can revoke visas. If you have the power to deny, you have the power to revoke.

Can Secretary Rubio give us a full list of the political views the administration will allow immigrants to espouse and which ones he will decide to "yank" their visas over? Be specific, please. www.state.gov/secretary-of...

Six of Hounds (Me and @lizziestark.bsky.social) is looking for folks to playtest a small activism game called Slow Walk. It's for 2-9 participants/1-2 hours and requires in-person play. We need some external testing. Let us know if you are interested!

How a War Over Eggs Marked the Early History of San Francisco Egg dishes are a flavor of home. We want them the way our fathers or mothers or grandparents made them. An egg conjures memories of learning to cook for many of us, since making eggs is perfect for…

The price of eggs is high…but not yet gold rush egg high, as I reported a couple years back.

@lizziestark.bsky.social and I are working on a new game and I got to playtest it at Larp Shack so that's pretty good. I always want a first playtest to be like "this is perfect and you are geniuses" but that does not happen, so I'll take "you learned a lot and have much more work to do".
