I was proud of the speech I gave, and as your former Chief of Staff, I was happy to get the thumbs up from you, too.

#TBT to the @ward1democrats.org endorsement event last weekend. My mom was in town. She gave me a boost of support, energy, and love that only a mom can. Right when I needed it—with the expert timing only a mom can get right.
Thank you, @janeese4dc.bsky.social for the words of encouragement!

We don't have a lot of seats that people can run for. And that's always an issue, until we can get statehood. And as I started to kind of think through this issue again, because it's personal to me, having worked at Pepco, having worked in the government, having received my last bill, all of that just really, really had me thinking of this, top of mind. And I wanted to take a thoughtful approach to it. And I was like, on top of maybe trying to work within the region for other opportunities to create generation of our power that's going to be safer, another thing that we could consider is an elected PSC.
With arguments over utility bills getting heated, @candacefor202.bsky.social just pitched me an interesting idea: what about having an elected, not appointed, Public Service Commission?
She notes many states have moved to this model to make commissioners directly accountable to residents:

Today, the @dcbikewalkbuspac.bsky.social announced their endorsement of our campaign! I am so excited to be endorsed by such a focused and mission driven organization.
Mobility is freedom. Let's fund it like we mean it.
Sidewalk covered in mud and grass.
Uneven sidewalk with raised portion
Broken sidewalk
I’m excited to participate in #SidewalkPalooza. It’s a great opportunity to bring attention to our critical infrastructure that we mostly overlook, but that hinders a lot of people with limited mobility in their daily lives.
We have to fund ADA compliance and basic sidewalk repair.
@eleanornorton.bsky.social, @mikethompson.house.gov, and I are demanding that NPS immediately halt any plans to remove this bike lane, which is a vital commuter route for DC-area residents.
Home Rule, Statehood, and our self-determination includes control over our streets.

How would I increase resident engagement in the legislative process?
“[By making…] hearings more accessible, even changing the hours. You could have a hearing from 7 to 11, or even having hearings on Saturdays... But I think that helps to bring government to the people.”
It was a pleasure to sit down and speak to @sampkcollins.bsky.social to share my platform and vision for DC.

A chilly morning + local farmers market = ✍️🗒️ Thank you, Ward 1!
Thank you for all your support and donations! None of our success would be possible without you.
✔️ Our events to meet new supporters have ramped up and it has been great to listen and learn from so many people who care deeply about our city.
🚍 Our transportation platform made its debut at the Transportation Forum on Sunday, March 1.
🗳️ We’re ballot bound and continuing our petition signature collection to have as strong a cushion as possible.
🌸 Spring is near and with that means our pole signs are now in bloom across DC.
Our latest report was filed with the Office of Campaign Finance last night and this is what it shows:
📈 Total donations are now at 510
🌟 DC donors make up 3 in 4 of all donations – we’re people-powered!
💰 Total raised is $144,148 with matching funds

How can we claim to value culturally responsive education while pushing out multilingual teachers? #WTUForum
We can’t reduce teacher turnover if there isn’t competitive pay, manageable class sizes, protected planning time, and respect. Building stability comes with building a foundation. #WTUForum #ProtectOurTeachers
If teachers don’t get planning time but DCPS Central Office gets budget increases, we have a priority problem. Classrooms first. Compliance first. Students first. #WTUForum #ProtectOurTeachers
“It is a huge field, but, for me, Barack Obama could get in this race and I would stay in,” @candacefor202.bsky.social said. “Because I believe that my resume speaks to my 20 years of commitment to the community.”

“Think about ice cream,” @candacefor202.bsky.social said. “I hope I’m your favorite flavor. But if not, that’s when you get into the second ranking portion of it. If anything I’m saying aligns with your values, rank me on your ballot.” #RCV wamu.org/story/26/02/... by @alexkoma.bsky.social
Last night, I attended a tenant organizing meeting that was personal, passionate, and powerful. Stable, affordable housing is foundational for people to stand on and thrive in DC. That's why your voices matter!
Let’s support each other to build momentum and tenant power across DC.

We think the vote is happening THIS WEEK.
Congress wants to undo local legislation, cost DC $700M, & overturn our efforts to cut child poverty. Call these Senators and tell them to VOTE NO ON S.J.RES.102.

From Ward 7 to Ward 5, my favorite part about campaigning so far has been the opportunity to meet people who are concerned about our city and who work to improve it.
We wanted to know: How would those currently running for D.C. office have handled the recent snowstorm differently?
