Ten years after their split, Smith and the Jets are reuniting.
And the QB is out to prove he still has something left in the tank, writes @zackblatt.bsky.social:

The #Jets are hiring Ryan Slowik as their defensive passing game coordinator, per source.
Has been with the Dolphins since 2022. Coached outside linebackers and then was the defensive backs coach/pass game specialist.
Who might #Jets target at QB this offseason?

Aaron Glenn can still salvage what has been a rocky start to the offseason.
I wrote about what he and the #Jets can do in the coming weeks and months to win back some goodwill:

The Jets hired Frank Reich as OC. The search is finally over.
Frank Reich is in Florham Park today, per sources.
I would expect the Jets OC search to wrap up pretty soon.
The expected finalists for the Jets OC job:
- Frank Reich
- Greg Roman
- Darrell Bevell
And I wouldn’t be surprised at all if all three wind up on the Jets staff in some capacity.
The Jets are hiring Brian Duker as defensive coordinator — and Aaron Glenn is expected to call plays.
Duker didn’t interview for the job until…. Yesterday.
What an offseason.
More on Duker and the new structure: www.nytimes.com/athletic/700...
The #Jets reached out to Jon Gruden about the idea of joining Aaron Glenn's staff, according to multiple sources. Gruden wasn't interested in the job.
Jarrett Stidham is a free agent this offseason. Just saying…
Definitely true
On the Jets DC search: Have heard that Wink Martindale was still considered the favorite heading in his meeting with the Jets yesterday. If for some reason that fell through, Jim O’Neil is considered another top candidate for the job.
O’Neil coached with Glenn in Detroit and Cleveland.

Looking at Aaron Glenn’s search for a new #Jets DC, diving into the his list of candidates and why it lacks big names, and why Wink Martindale — who Glenn spoke to for the first time before the season was even over — is the early favorite:

Aaron Glenn is not getting fired at the end of this season, writes @zackblatt.bsky.social.
But after the last few weeks it’s fair to wonder if Woody Johnson’s confidence in the man that won him over with words is wavering.
If the Jets finish with three wins, most coaches don’t survive very long with that outcome.
Aaron Glenn has to show real signs that a turnaround is happening.
But history is not in his favor, writes @zackblatt.bsky.social.

Armand Membou is the Jets’ dancing, dominant centerpiece of their 2025 draft class — and he already looks like a cornerstone piece of the Jets future.
Overall, the class has actually been pretty solid too.
Diving into Membou, Taylor, Thomas and the others:

Jets WRs with Garrett Wilson out:
Josh Reynolds (8 catches, 72 yards)
Tyler Johnson (4 catches, 63 yards)
Allen Lazard (4 catches, 24 yards, 1 TD)
Arian Smith (4 catches, 24 yards)
Isaiah Williams (0 catches)
I would expect a heavy dose of Mason Taylor and, gasp, Breece Hall in the passing game.
It took 147 seconds for the #Jets to unravel against the Cowboys.
And so now they are 0-5, alone at the bottom of the NFL.
How it all went to hell — as the mess Aaron Glenn inherited only seems to be getting messier: www.nytimes.com/athletic/669...

Sunday, Justin Fields provided the Jets with a glimmer of the dreaded H word:
Hope.
No, there are no moral victories. The Jets still lost like they’ve lost many times.
But it’s OK to wonder what the Jets can be if THIS is who Fields is going to be: t.co/Bcpje9Uhd5
Aaron Glenn is the antidote to the noise of the Aaron Rodgers era. He’s building the Jets his way — in silence.
He knows something about changing the culture of a tortured franchise. The Lions, Dan Campbell told me, aren’t who they are today if not for him.

Update: Justin Fields sustained a dislocated toe in his right foot and will be day-to-day. Fields avoided serious injury and significant missed time, per the #Jets.
Aaron Glenn said after practice that Fields hurt his toe — though he’s not sure of the severity yet.
