Imperial War Museum rejects criticism of caption in Holocaust display Visitor to museum and two eminent historians say wording of information board on Nuremberg race laws is incorrect

This is a slightly odd story - isn't the sentence identified just wrong rather than a question of interpretative nuance? www.theguardian.com/culture/2025...

Inquiry finds British committed genocide on Indigenous Australians It is the country's first formal "truth-telling" inquiry that ran for four years from 2021.

Wondering what @tgplawson.bsky.social makes of this news? Inquiry finds British committed genocide on Indigenous Australians www.bbc.com/news/article...

The truth is brutal and horrible, but we need to be honest. The memory culture of one genocide - the Holocaust - has made it difficult for many to recognize and stop another genocide - the eradication of the Gaza Strip.

Why? I mean I take the point about understanding the context and all that, but why use that flag? Why is it not also a symbol of oppression and violence?

More than 10,000 First Nations people killed in Australia’s frontier wars, final massacre map shows ‘Horrendous’ eight-year long project has ended with final fact check, leaving a legacy ‘nobody can argue’ with, says researcher

1/2 Despite all the denialism from right wing polemicists, Lyndall Ryan kept going, patiently gathering the evidence proving that Australia’s colonisation entailed hundreds of massacres.

As you know Alex we take different views but this article is really interesting and it is good that it sets the memorial in the wider historical context of British memorialisation. I remain unconvinced that the memorial can (in its suggested location) ultimately avoid triumphalism

Some people in recent days have alleged a ‘cover-up’ over the grooming & rape of hundreds of young girls in predominantly northern UK towns, leading to calls for a ‘national’ public inquiry into child sexual exploitation

NEW on Wonkhe: James Coe heads back to Darlington and worries the civic agenda is becoming a bit too distant, a bit too middle class, and a bit too removed from the lives of people in the communities it seeks to impact. https://buff.ly/402xYcg
