I think moving over to a two stage proposal system would be better. Open short form proposals/EOI for round one, then full long form proposals for those invited to continue in the process. It saves the committee's time and saves all the applicants' time.
Nice
🧵1/X 🚨New Preprint🚨 Root pathogens are hard to manage, and we know little about plant genes enabling infection (susceptibility genes). Here, we show that SCARs are susceptibility factors in barley roots - and their loss affects pathogens/symbionts in distinct ways www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

Since our preprint, we’ve pushed it to regimes where other methods break: low resolution, weak signal, real experimental edge cases. Here’s what we learned: 1/15

Great thread on Dewar though!
I really don't think we should be giving 'short answers' on this or showing videos like this the the naïve as though it's acceptable practice. It's one step away from, 'I can quickly reach into the L N2 to get the tube'. That's how someone in our department lost half their hand.

Congrats Moritz! Do you have the full link? it's been shortened in the copy/paste.
Very happy about this nice piece of work by @eugeniapitsili.bsky.social on developmentally controlled cell death in plants @dev-journal.bsky.social !
Special thanks also to @ingridtsang.bsky.social for a terrific editorial job bringing out the best of this manuscript!!

We are very excited to share a new resource from our team: spatial subcellular proteome maps in plants! We developed an MS-based method that registers localizations of about 8000 proteins in Arabidopsis roots in a single experiment.

A tour de force! Well done Dongwei, Rali, Eva, Yka and team! So glad to see it finally out.
Excellent editor's summary from @maddyseale.bsky.social on research showing how ribosome methylation affects vascular cell fate in xylem tissue - whether cells become water conducting vessels or parenchyma cells for storage.

Our work now on its final version. We mapped the mechanical properties of roots at tissue and single cell levels using Brillouin microscopy and molecular rotors. Additional mutants and stress measurements from what we previously showed in the preprint are included.
